MMSB is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing waste diversion programs in Newfoundland and Labrador. Since 1997, MMSB has worked with stakeholders throughout the province to develop and implement recycling waste diversion programs to help keep Newfoundland and Labrador health, clean, and green. These initiatives include recycling programs for beverage containers, tires, oil and household hazardous waste, the Waste Management Trust Fund, as well as public education and information programs for recycling and waste reduction.
