A group of Canada's leading businesses met to begin developing detailed plans for a nationwide internship program to be funded and operated by the private sector. The program, called First Jobs, will target young Canadians by offering them new opportunities to gain valuable work experience through a six to 12-month internship. A group of over 30 businesses has been involved in discussions to date, including the Boston Consulting Group of Canada Limited, Toronto Dominion Bank, Northern Telecom, Noranda, PanCanadian Petroleum, Monsanto, Royal Bank and CTV.
