The Yukon Agricultural Association(YAA), through a Yukon Adaptation Committee provides funding for projects designed to encourage growth, stability, employment and a competitive, environmentally sustainable industry for the Yukon's agriculture and agri-food sector and rural communities. Funding is provided to the Council from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's $60 million per year Canadian Adaptation and Rural Development(CARD) Fund. The Yukon Agriculture Association is a non-profit organization, established for 25 years. It is made up of three chapters covering the Whitehorse, Mayo, and Dawson agricultural areas. Support to Cuba by the NGO Division was initially focused through the Canada-Cuba Inter-Agency Project(CCIP) led by OXFAM Canada. Following a careful preparatory process involving consultations with African Governments, African experts and several UN agencies concerned with African development, UNEP, in co-operation with the Organization of African Unity(OAU) and the Economic Commission for Africa(ECA), organized the first African Ministerial Conference on the Environment in Cairo from 14-16 December 1985.
