Ascochyta Blight of Lentil. Symptoms appear on leaves, stems and pods as white to tan coloured spots, often with a darker margin. The centres of lesions are often speckled with tiny, black fruiting bodies(pycnidia) which contain the spores of the fungus. When the disease becomes severe, leaves may drop prematurely and shoots may be blighted. Dieback and flower and pod abortion are the main causes of yield loss. 3, record 1, English, - ascochyta%20blight%20of%20lentil

Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
3, record 1, French, - br%C3%BBlure%20ascochytique%20des%20lentilles

Chytridiomycosis is an infectious disease that affects amphibians worldwide. It is caused by the chytrid fungus(Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis), a fungus capable of causing sporadic deaths in some amphibian populations and 100 per cent mortality in others.... Only the amphibian chytrid fungus is known to infect vertebrate species. Individual frogs are thought to contract the disease when their skin comes into contact with water containing spores from infected animals. 1, record 6, English, - chytrid%20fungus

The rice blast disease is caused by the fungus Pyricularia grisea, which, in its sexual state, is known as Magnaporthe grisea. The disease can strike all aerial parts of the plant. Most infections occur on the leaves, causing diamond-shaped lesions with a gray or white center to appear, or on the panicles, which turn white and die before being filled with grain. P. grisea is highly specific to rice, although certain strains that don’t attack rice can harm weeds in the rice field. Once on a rice plant, the fungus rapidly produces thousands of spores, which are carried readily through the air, by wind or rain, onto neighboring plants. 3, record 13, English, - rice%20blast%20disease

Bakanae is caused by the fungus Fusarium. While it is generally thought of as a seedling disease, it can be observed throughout the growing season. Infected seedlings are taller and more slender and are often visible arching above the healthy rice plants. As the season progresses, bakanae-infected plants may die before reaching maturity, or if they survive to heading, the panicles they produce are mostly empty. The fungus can over winter in the soil and residue as spores on the coat of infested seeds, leading to infected plants in the field the following season. 7, record 18, English, - Bakanae%20disease

2, record 21, French, - mildiou%20de%20la%20vigne

Blind seed disease, caused by Gloeotinia temulenta, can cause considerable losses in forage grasses managed for seed production.... The fungus infects the developing embryo, which then becomes a partially shrunken, rusty-brown caryopsis(small, dry fruit) rather than a healthy seed. Infected seeds are indistinguishable from healthy seeds, but they can be detected when glumes are removed. The fungus survives in infected seeds in the soil and reproduces above-ground in the developing grass floret. The spores are wind-blown and gain entry to an open floret just below the stigma, completing the primary infection. The fungus destroys the embryo, preventing seed formation and producing the typical "blind seed. " 3, record 23, English, - blind%20seed

3, record 35, French, - pourriture%20grise

The fungus causing downy mildew of cabbage also attacks other crucifers, such as cauliflower, collards, Chinese cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, kale, and kohlrabi... The first symptoms of downy mildew are the formation of black specks and yellow-brown spots on the upper leaf surface, accompanied by the development of a fluffy mold growth on the lower surface. Young leaves may fall off when infected, and on older leaves, the spots may coalesce, producing large, sunken, tan spots. The disease can attack young seedlings or plants that have already headed.
