A [coke drum] is a type of pressure vessel that uses heat and pressure to refine complex hydrocarbons into lighter, more useful products, such as gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. Coke drums are an integral part of coker units and serve as the final step in the cracking process. During the process, crude oil is fed into a coker, where it is first heated to cracking temperature in a furnace. It is then sent through a transfer line to the coke drum for final processing. 3, record 2, English, - coke%20drum

Oil furnace operations have not changed very much. On a call for heat from the thermostat, the burner motor will start. Oil is now pumped to the nozzle, and the ignition transformer is energized. The nozzle is designed to spray the oil into the fire tube as a fine mist. The ignition transformer is designed to create an electrical arc across the electrodes. As the oil mist(also mixed with air) comes in contact with the arc, ignition takes place, and the fire is started. 2, record 6, English, - call%20for%20heat

Burner controller: The controller is usually located in front of the burner. On a call for heat the controller starts a sequence of events that ensure safe operation before the burner is allowed to start. The controller continues to monitor burner operation while the boiler is running. If for any reason the controller senses an unsafe operating condition it will shut the burner off. Pushing the manual reset on the controller will often restart the boiler. 3, record 6, English, - call%20for%20heat

Mechanical Atomizers : In the mechanical atomizer, the pressure of the fuel itself is used as the means for atomization. Mechanical atomizers are available in sizes up to 180 million Btu/hr input, about 10, 000 lb of oil per hr. The acceptable operating range may be as much as ten to one or as little as three to one, depending on the maximum oil pressure used for the system, the furnace configuration, air temperature, and burner throat velocity. Return flow atomizers are ideally suited for standard grades of fuel oil where it is desired to meet load variations without changing sprayer plates or cutting burners in and out of service. 4, record 8, English, - mechanical%20atomizer

5, record 21, French, - g%C3%A9n%C3%A9rateur%20%C3%A0%20mazout

Pipeless Furnaces: These are essentially gravity warm air furnaces that are not connected to ducts. The furnace is mounted directly under the space to be heated. All the air heated in its outer jacket is discharged through a register above the heat exchanger. They are used for heating small homes and other small one-story properties. 3, record 22, English, - pipeless%20furnace

1, record 22, French, - fournaise%20sans%20tuyauterie

Forced Air Wood Furnaces. Central wood-burning furnaces are controlled by a wall mounted thermostat in the living area. Temperature and fan controls are the same as those found on oil and gas furnaces. Unlike room heaters, which produce a steady heat output by periodic manual adjustments of the draft control, most wood furnaces operate in cycles. A cycle starts with the thermostat sensing that heat is needed in the room where it is located. It signals the furnace control system which opens the combustion air damper and a hot fire develops. When the air inside the furnace's sheet metal casing gets hot, a preset fan control starts the circulating blower and the warm air is moved through the ducts to all areas of the house. 1, record 23, English, - forced%20air%20wood%20furnace

To accommodate different house styles, there are three forced air electric furnace designs. The upflow system is similar to conventional oil or gas furnaces, discharging warm air from the top of the cabinet into the distribution ducts and taking house air in from the back or top of the cabinet. It is best located in the basement. Horizontal flow systems... Downflow systems... 1, record 24, English, - upflow%20system
