It is worth noting that the ß-D-glucan content was 2. 6% in the 1st abrasion fraction compare to 0. 5% in the starting wheat. Further investigations were carried out primarily on this fraction as shown in Fig. 1 and 2. Fig. 1 describes the extraction and purification procedure of non-starch polysaccharides from the pre-processed bran(1st abrasion fraction) while Fig. 2 gives the procedures to prepare purified ß-D-glucan.
