Dans ce cas, les retards entre trous peuvent être réalisés par la mise en place de relais de détonation insérés sur le cordeau maître (cordeau renfermant 10 ou 12 g/m de pentrite) entre chaque trou de mine. Ces relais sont constitués d'un tube d'aluminium dans lequel se trouve une poudre retardatrice entre deux charges explosives. Ils existent en France avec deux retards, 20 et 50 ms, mais la précision du retard est moins bonne que celle des détonateurs électriques.
