CONT

Infrasil is a type of fused quartz produced by electrically fusing high quality quartz crystals. Infrasil has three times higher metallic impurity than Suprasil, so it shows reduced UV transmission. However, Infrasil has a lower OH content than Suprasil, and consequently better IR transmission. Infrasil exhibits high strength and low thermal expansion and its homogeneity is better than that of Suprasil.

OBS

Infrasil: A registered trademark of Heraeus Quarzglas.

DEF

Verre simulant le flux infra-rouge.

CONT

OBS

Infrasil : Marque déposée allemande de Heraeus Quarzglas.

DEF

A translucent or transparent vitreous material consisting almost entirely of silica.

CONT

When fused silica glass [is] intended for optical purposes the raw material used is rock crystal rather than quartz sand.

  • Optique
DEF

CONT

This is a typical quartzite. They are dense, hard rocks, generally uniform in texture, composed of fused quartz sand grains.

OBS

DEF

Light diffracted by a solid(usually quartz in crystal or fused form) traversed by acoustic waves.

OBS

If the ultrasonic wavelength is larger than the diameter of the light beam, the diffraction orders are practically superimposed and the beam is refracted sinusoidally. If the wavelength is smaller than the diameter of the light beam, pronounced diffraction occurs.
