CONT

Doomerism is a socio-cultural and psychological outlook characterized by a pervasive sense of pessimism and fatalism regarding the future of humanity and the planet. It is typically associated with the belief that large-scale systemic crises—such as climate change, ecological degradation, economic collapse, or sociopolitical instability—are inevitable and irreversible. Adherents to this worldview, often referred to as "doomers, "tend to view mitigation efforts as insufficient or futile, leading to disengagement, despair, or nihilism.

People who are dying should have the choice to refuse futile therapies. Withholding or whithdrawal of futile therapy from a dying person is not euthanasia as the intention is to avoid artificial prolongation of life and allow death from natural cause, rather than deliberate termination of the patient's life.

High-level skills are made up of basic skills. Without mastery of the basics working on the high-level skill is futile.... If you agree on these two points you will also agree there really isn’t such a thing as a high-level skill, just the ability to combine the basics. The whole point is that real skill at anything comes from mastery of the simplest elements-the basics. If you really want to get better at something don’t look for the so-called "high-level" things to study look for the most basic things to master! This will get you results!

CONT

While all skills are inherently complex, we nevertheless tend to grade them on a scale from simple to complex, or from automatic and highly repetitive, on one extreme, to mostly conscious and non-repetitive, on the other -- though what is "simple" or "complex" seems to depend more on the performer than on the nature of the skill itself.

OBS

In review of studies pertaining to [the Draw-a-Man Test], Goodenough and Harris... expressed the opinion that the search for a culture-free test, whether of intelligence, artistic ability, personal-social characteristics, or any other measurable trait is illusory. It is therefore futile to try to devise a test that is free from cultural influences... For this reason, such terms as "culture-common", "culture-fair", and "cross-cultural" have replaced the earlier "culture-free" label.
