Wage-earners who expect inflation to continue or to get worse may demand even bigger wage increases in collective bargaining, thus adding to inflation pressures. Businesspeople who are gloomy about future profits because they expect costs to rise sharply or because they see few signs of future market growth will delay investment plans, thus slowing down economic growth. The process by which products are retrieved from specified storage locations on the basis of customer orders is in most companies a manual job. The order picking process is in general the most laborious of all warehouse processes and therefore contributes for a large extend to warehousing costs. According to Tompkins et al.(1996) order picking typically amounts to 55% of warehouse operating expenses. Furthermore, generally 50% of total order picking time is spent on traveling(Tompkins et al., 1996). Therefore, it is often possible to obtain a substantial reduction in order throughput times and obtain simultaneously a reduction of costs, by reducing the travel distances in the order picking process. One way to reduce travel distances is to optimize order picking routes. Given that the order picker has to collect a number of products in specified quantities at known locations, in what sequence should the order picker visit these locations in order to minimize the distance traveled?... In the near future, other issues like the layout of the order picking area and batching policies will be studied. 1, record 37, English, - order%20picking%20area

The well known ACEE(Aircraft Energy Efficiency) program in the United States emerged from the fear of substantial increases in future fuel costs. The slogan was "reduced weight for reduced fuel cost". to achieve high performance, some designs called for individually tailor-made plies which saved a mere ounce at a substantial cost penalty. Instead of the cost of fuel increasing as predicted, it has actually dropped considerably(in real dollars) since the early 1980s, and the demand for high performance has somewhat diminished. Consequently, the ACEE program has lost much of its funding and clout. 3, record 44, English, - Aircraft%20Energy%20Efficiency

1, record 52, French, - m%C3%A9thode%20de%20l%27accroissement%20du%20co%C3%BBt%20des%20avantages%20futurs
