The New York Mercantile Exchange(NYMEX) is the world's largest physical commodity futures exchange located in New York City. Its two principal divisions are the New York Mercantile Exchange and the New York Commodities Exchange(COMEX) which were once independent companies but are now merged. The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc. is currently a large private company. The New York Mercantile Exchange handles billions of dollars worth of energy products, metals, and other commodities being bought and sold on the trading floor and the overnight electronic trading computer system. The prices quoted for transactions on the exchange are the basis for prices that people pay for throughout the world. In 1933, the COMEX was established through the merger of four smaller exchanges : the National Metal Exchange, the Rubber Exchange of New York, the National Raw Silk Exchange, and the New York Hide Exchange. On august 3, 1994, the NYMEX and COMEX finally merged under the NYMEX. Now, the NYMEX operates in a state of the art trading facility and office building with two trading floors in the World Financial Center in downtown Manhattan. 3, record 13, English, - New%20York%20Mercantile%20Exchange

Trading on commodity exchanges may be in actual goods, known as cash trading, or in contracts for future delivery, known as futures trading. Some exchanges offer only cash markets, others specialize in futures trading. Others offer a wide variety of cash plus futures trading. Trading on the three markets offered by the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange, commodity futures, grain options and cash grains, illustrates the operation of commodity markets and how the grain industry uses them. 1, record 26, English, - trading%20on%20commodity%20exchange

Margins are monies deposited by customers with futures commission merchants to ensure performance on futures contracts held. The Winnipeg Commodity Exchange has established minimum levels of margins which futures commission merchants must require of their customers. These minimum levels vary with the commodity and with market conditions and usually range between 5% and 10% of the contract. 4, record 32, French, - International%20Monetary%20Market

The Coffee, Sugar & Cocoa Exchange, Inc., known initially as the Coffee Exchange of the City of New York, was founded in 1882. The Exchange was formed by a group of coffee merchants who wished to avoid the risk of a cash market collapse by organizing a market for trading in coffee futures. In 1914, the Coffee Exchange expanded to include futures in sugar, and, in 1916, it became the New York Coffee and Sugar Exchange, Inc. On September 28, 1979, the New York Cocoa Exchange, Inc., which had been in existence since 1925, was officially merged into the Coffee and Sugar Exchange, and the name Coffee, Sugar & Cocoa Exchange, Inc. was adopted. 2, record 40, English, - Coffee%2C%20Sugar%20%26%20Cocoa%20Exchange%2C%20Inc%2E
