The uncertainty principle is one of the most famous(and probably [most] misunderstood) ideas in physics. It tells us that there is a fuzziness in nature, a fundamental limit to what we can know about the behaviour of quantum particles and, therefore, the smallest scales of nature. 3, record 1, English, - Heisenberg%27s%20uncertainty%20principle

Mal nommé, le principe d'incertitude de Heisenberg est plus correctement désigné aujourd'hui sous le terme des inégalités de Heisenberg. Ces inégalités nous indiquent les limites sur la pertinence de l'emploi des concepts d'ondes et de particules classiques pour décrire les phénomènes à l'échelle atomique, comme ceux portant sur les électrons et la lumière. 2, record 1, French, - principe%20d%27ind%C3%A9termination

One advantage that a procedural encoding of the grammar... has over pattern-matching schemes in the implementation of fuzziness is its ability to control exactly where words can be ignored.... The amount of fuzziness-how many, if any, words in a row can be ignored-is controlled in two ways. First, whenever a grammar rule is invoked, the calling rule has the option of limiting the number of words that can be skipped. Second, each rule can decide which of its constituent pieces or words are required and how tightly controlled the search for them should be.... Fuzziness... reduce the size of the dictionary because all known noise words do not have to be included. 3, record 3, English, - fuzziness

One can almost see a Richardsonian cascade at work. A finite pinch of energy spreads a square ink blob around. Then the original eddy splits into smaller scale eddies, the effects of which are more local. The initial energy cascades down to ever smaller typical sizes, eventually contributing nothing but slight fuzziness to the outline of the final ink blob, just as in the following diagram from Corrsin 1959b. 1, record 4, English, - Richardsonian%20cascade

... the semantic parser is designed to produce exactly the system's internal interpretation of the request : a functional form instantiated to the extent that values for the function and for its arguments were provided in the input sentence. Some system parameters determine the degree of fuzziness allowed in parsing each semantic category by prescribing, for instance, the number of words that can be skipped if they do not fit into the grammatical definition of the current category. 2, record 5, English, - semantic%20parser
