The Institute for Government Information Professionals is pleased to announce the launch, in partnership with Dalhousie University, of the Executive Master of Electronic Commerce(EMEC). The multi-disciplinary EMEC is a customized version of Dalhousie's Master of Electronic Commerce(MEC), a G-7 endorsed program, offered by Dalhousie Faculties of Computer Science, Law and Business. The EMEC is for public sector executives and professionals employed in technology, policy/law or business, who want to play leadership role in the establishment of Government On-line. At the 1995 Halifax Summit, Group of Seven(G-7) leaders urged the Bretton Woods institutions to develop a comprehensive approach to address the special problems of the poorest countries with large multilateral debt burdens. Just over a year later, at the 1996 annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund(IMF) and the World Bank, details of a new debt initiative for heavily indebted poor countries were endorsed by the Interim and Development Committees.

Canada's Program of Technical Cooperation with Russia was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the London G-7 Economic Summit in July 1991. It focuses on training, institution building, and policy advice in sectors which are critical to political and economic reform. It also focuses on supporting the process of reform within Russia, either directly or through strengthening the elements which make reform possible. It operates mostly on a responsive basis, providing funding for projects proposed and developed by Canadian firms, voluntary and other non-government organizations and institutions.
