GABA RECEPTOR [3 records]

Record 1 2013-10-10

English

Subject field(s)
  • Nervous System
CONT

GABA(gamma-aminobutyric acid) receptors are divided into three classes : A, B and C. The GABA-A receptor is very complex, composed of five subunits, and containing a chloride channel, estimated to be about 5 nm in diameter.

OBS

gamma: This word must be italicized or replaced by the corresponding Greek letter.

Key term(s)
  • γ-aminobutyric acid receptor

French

Domaine(s)
  • Système nerveux
CONT

Key term(s)
  • récepteur de l'acide γ-aminobutyrique

Record 2 1998-02-12

English

Subject field(s)
  • Biochemistry
CONT

Neurosteroids: deficient cognitive performance in aged rats depends on low pregnenolone sulfate levels in the hippocampus (Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, December 23, 1997).

OBS

Neurosteroids potentiate the gamma aminobutyric acid(GABA) response in all possible forms of the GABA receptor.

Key term(s)
  • Preg S

French

Domaine(s)
  • Biochimie
CONT

Key term(s)
  • Preg S
  • sulfate de pregnenolone

Record 3 1997-11-06

English

Subject field(s)
  • Biochemistry
CONT

Human endozepine, an 86 amino acid polypeptide, was originally isolated from human brain tissue as a putative ligand of the benzodiazepine receptor. Complete amino acid sequencing of the human and bovine proteins revealed significant homology with the partial sequence of diazepam binding inhibitor(DBI), a protein from rat brain. Both endozepine and DBI have been shown to elicit behavioral effects, suggesting that they function as pharmacologically-active ligands of the GABA.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Biochimie
CONT
