GAIN NOISE TEMPERATURE RATIO ANTENNA [2 records]

Record 1 2000-07-19

English

Subject field(s)
  • Telecommunications
  • Air Transport
DEF

The ratio, usually expressed in dB/K, of the antenna gain to the noise at the receiver output of the antenna subsystem. The noise is expressed as the temperature that a 1 ohm resistor must be raised to produce the same noise power density.

OBS

gain-to-noise temperature ratio: term and definition officially approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Télécommunications
  • Transport aérien
DEF

Record 2 1987-07-31

English

Subject field(s)
  • Radio Transmission and Reception
  • Satellite Telecommunications
DEF

An antenna performance parameter equaling the antenna gain G divided by the antenna noise temperature T, measured at the antenna terminals. It can be expressed as a ratio, M=G/T.

OBS

For satellite earth stations receiving systems, a figure of merit that equals G/T, where G is the gain in decibels of the earth station antenna at the receiving frequency and T is the equivalent noise temperature in kelvins of the receiving system.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Émission et réception radio
  • Télécommunications par satellite
DEF
