Blount's disease occurs in children with no apparent abnormality at birth, having a typical history of "genu varum" worsening with gait before the age of 2 years. The less frequent juvenile onset may occur between 4 and 10 years and the adolescent form over 11 years.... Blount's disease is believed to result from abnormal compression of the medial aspect of the proximal tibial physes, causing retardation of growth in that area or increased growth laterally of the proximal tibia or fibula... In juvenile Blount's disease, the etiology is less clear and may relate more to malalignment, leading to the characteristic changes visible on radiographs. 3, record 1, English, - juvenile%20Blount%27s%20disease

FOG causes sudden but transient interruption of walking. Patients describe feeling as if their feet are “glued” or “stuck” to the floor. FOG is commonly observed while initiating gait(“start hesitation”) such as after getting up from a chair or getting out of a car. It often occurs while turning when it commonly causes sudden falls. It may also be caused by a visible obstacle in the path, walking through a doorway or narrow space, in a crowded or cluttered environment, or in a situation in which the patient is rushed or startled. 3, record 14, English, - freezing%20of%20gait

Bipedal gait and purposeful movement are astounding abilities of humans. The integration of spatial position, stability of balance, and locomotion is complex... In humans the bulk of weight is in the proximal parts of the limbs and trunk... Such a structure is inherently unstable and prone to falls. The success of the human species with such an "engineering handicap" seems surprising at first, but there are important advantages in bipedal locomotion. It allows quick positional changes in all directions and rapid acceleration and deceleration in emergencies, it offers a good view of the surrounding environment and, probably most importantly, it minimises the energy expenditure of movement... 2, record 26, English, - bipedal%20gait

2, record 26, French, - marche%20bip%C3%A8de

Gaiting straps are put on a horse to keep his rear end in line. I’ve put them on trotters on both sides. Sometimes they’ll throw their feet out pretty wide into a wheel or the sulky, particularly on a half-mile track where they’re going at a terrific clip around the turns. A lot of good horses that I’ve raced had to wear gaiting straps over a half-mile track. Genu valgum is the Latin-derived term used to describe knock-knee deformity. While many otherwise healthy children have knock-knee deformity as a passing trait, some individuals retain or develop this deformity due to hereditary or genetic disorders or metabolic bone disease. The typical gait pattern is circumduction, requiring that the individual swing each leg outward while walking in order to take a step without striking the planted limb with the moving limb. Not only are the mechanics of gait compromised but also, with significant angular deformity, anterior and medial knee pain are common. 2, record 47, English, - genu%20valgum

The Missouri Fox Trotter was developed in the rugged Ozark Mountains during the nineteenth century by setters who needed smooth-riding, durable mounts that could travel at a comfortable, surefooted gait for long distances.... The breeding of this stock was largely Arabian, Morgan and plantation horses from the deep south. Later more American Saddlebred, Tennessee Walking and Standardbred breeding was added. It soon became apparent that horses able to perform the easy, broken gait called the "fox trot" were the most useful in the rocky, forest-covered hills of the Ozarks, and selective breeding of the fox trot gait began. 3, record 49, English, - Missouri%20Fox%20trotter

Tardigrade, any of a group of tiny arthropod-like animals characterized by four pairs of stubby legs ending in large claws, a stout body, rounded back, and lumbering gait. Their most striking feature is their ability to temporarily enter a nearly lifeless state known as anabiosis, which helps them survive environmental extremes.... Tardigrades are most commonly found in association with the water film on mosses, liverworts, and lichens.... A gait resulting from hip girdle muscle weakness. The lack of fixation of the hip by the weak gluteal muscles on taking a step makes the opposite side of the pelvis drop producing compensatory lateral movement of the pelvis. Very frequently the hip and back extensors are concomitantly affected, which explains the marked lumbar lordosis with protrusion of the abdomen seen while the patient stands or walks. This type of gait is seen in patients with dystrophic myopathies affecting the hip musculature, in spinal muscular atrophy, and in dislocation of the hips. 2, record 77, English, - waddling%20gait
