Psychological dependence can be described as a compulsion or a craving to continue to take the substance because of the need for stimulation, or because it relieves anxiety or depression. Psychological dependence is recognized as the most widespread and the most important form of dependence. This kind of dependence is not only attributed to the use of psychoactive drugs, but also to food, sex, gambling, relationships or physical activities. 7, record 1, English, - psychological%20dependence

3, record 2, French, - d%C3%A9pendance

Physiological tolerance results from the repeated effects on the brain from daily doses of drugs such as alcohol, methamphetamines, nicotine opioids. Brain neural circuitry involving dopamine neurons adapts to the addition of the drug and reduces the responsiveness of the dopamine receptors... Psychological tolerance is the need for more of the substance to get the same sense of euphoria. ... given the rigid game structure, the artificial winning caps and the minimal impact (if any) of sports-related knowledge, sports lottery parlay games offer overwhelming odds against a player’s succeeding on a regular basis. Without some kind of system to "beat the house," you could not reasonably expect to earn a profit. However, Professor Smith said that he knew of no system that could "beat the house" in sports lottery parlay games. Because there is no such system, and the odds are so overwhelming, professional gamblers do not play parlay bets, which they call "sucker bets." 3, record 19, English, - sucker%20bet

The term, which derived from the words costard(a type of apple) and monger, i. e. "seller, "came to be particularly associated with the "barrow boys" of London who would sell their produce from a wheelbarrow or wheeled market stall. Costermongers have existed in London since at least the 16th century, when they were mentioned by Shakespeare. They probably were never more numerous than during the Victorian era, when there were said to be over 30, 000 in 1860. They gained a fairly unsavoury reputation for their "low habits, general improvidence, love of gambling, total want of education, disregard for lawful marriage ceremonies, and their use of a peculiar slang language. Technically, there is one way to guarantee that a profit is made from a fixed odds sports bet-arbitrage.... This possibility arises because, by taking the best odds from different bookmakers, the punter can reduce the overround on the book to below 0%. The book for the punter is then said to be "overbroke" and the betting opportunity is known as an arbitrage, sure win or sure bet.... No form of gambling is entirely risk-free, not even arbitrage. [The] fact that it is frequently and wrongly acclaimed as being so is perhaps partly due to the use of the term "sure win". 3, record 49, English, - arbitrage

The house is formed of four concentric circles having a diameter of 12 (3,66 m), 8 (2,44 m), 4 (1,22 m) and 2 feet (0,61 m) respectively. The ring enclosed by the 12-foot and the 8-foot circles (called "outer ring") is blue and the one enclosed by the 4-foot and the 2-foot circles (called "inner ring" or "inside ring"), red, which leaves uncolored the ring enclosed by the 8-foot and the 4-foot circles (called "middle ring") and the inside of the 2-foot circle (called "tee" or "button"), giving them a white appearance. Seen from above, the house appears as a series of three rings, blue, white and red around a white button. 3, record 61, English, - 4%2Dfoot%20ring

The term "circle" refers, more properly, to each of the four circular lines forming the house while the term "ring" refers to the coloured or uncoloured surface between two circles. But since there are four circles and four inner surfaces, the terms tend to be used as synonyms, as are "concentric ring(s)" and "concentric circle(s)." The centre of the house being a full circle and not a ring, there is a mix as to what is really the "inner circle": the red ring or the button? 3, record 61, English, - 4%2Dfoot%20ring

It was bound to happen :gambling is heading for the information highway. In October Gaming Entertainment Television(GET), a cable-TV station based in Pittsburgh, is to start broadcasting horse-racing, poker and $1m-jackpot bingo, all of which will allow interactive gambling. At the same time, Sony's Game Show Channel, based in Los Angeles, is promising interactive versions of "Wheel of Fortune" and "The Price is Right". There is a market : 6m Americans play(by mailing in cards) the ordinary TV version of "The Price is Right".... interactivity is simply a wheeze to push up its ratings. In its first phase it will allow viewers to play for free(ie, without betting real money) and will offer small prizes to those who win. Eventually, however, it may permit real betting too. 1, record 62, English, - interactive%20gambling
