GARBLING [6 records]

Record 1 2014-04-24

English

Subject field(s)
  • Radar, Radio Guidance and Goniometry
OBS

If two aircraft on one bearing are close enough in slant range, their replies can overlap because of their simultaneity. This condition is known as synchronous garbling. It is common to find SSR [Secondary Surveillance Radar] decoders with fast dual registers operated by a commutating clock. These enable all but the most severe pulse masking to be tolerated. In view of the dubiety of data under garbled conditions it is common to find data labelled in such a way that garble conditions are indicated to the operator.

Subject field(s)
  • Radar, Radio Guidance and Goniometry
  • Power Transmission Techniques
  • Statutes and Regulations (Air Transport)
DEF

A pulse reply received as the result of interrogation of a transponder by interrogators not associated with the responsor in question.

OBS

The source is the only one to qualify the term fruit as deprecated; it is also the only source for the term fruit pulse.

OBS

non-synchronous reply; non-synchronous garbling : terms officially approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO).

Key term(s)
  • non synchronous reply
  • non synchronous garbling

French

Domaine(s)
  • Radar, radioguidage et radiogoniométrie
  • Techniques de transport de l'énergie
  • Réglementation et législation (Transp. aérien)
CONT
