Sandpaper is graded as to coarseness by the size of the grit used. It ranges from a very fine 10/0 to a medium 2/0. These sizes are stamped on the back of the sheet and are read two 0, three 0, four 0, and so on. The coarse sizes are 1/2, 1, 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2, 3. 8, record 8, French, - papier%20abrasif

Lattice orientations of garnet microstructures, obtained using electron-backscatter diffraction(EBSD) methods, were used to model garnet growth and deformation mechanisms. Pinwheel garnet and snowball garnet are designations sometimes applied to those garnets whose inclusions appear to have been rotated. These garnets occur sporadically in foliated metamorphic rocks. The prefix ... ortho- was used for the following rocks: metamorphic rocks of igneous origin, rocks containing K-feldspar, SiO2-saturated rocks, sediments with defined contents of matrix, contents of carbon in coals, type of cumulates, etc. The use of the prefixes ortho- and para- is accepted by SCMR in the classical concept of Rosenbusch for metamorphic rocks derived from igneous and sedimentary parents respectively, but difficulties may exist in determining the nature of the protolith by directly observable features. 5, record 49, English, - orthoamphibolite

An abrasive jet uses water that is pressurized up to 40, 000 pounds per square inch(psi) and then forced through a small sapphire orifice at 2500 feet per second, or about two and a half times the speed of sound. Garnet abrasive is then pulled into this high-speed stream of water and mixed with the water in a long ceramic mixing tube. A stream of abrasive laden water moving at 1000 feet per second exits the ceramic tube. This jet of water and abrasive is then directed at the material to be machined. The jet drags the abrasive through the material in a curved path and the resulting centrifugal forces on the particles press them against the work piece. The cutting action is a grinding process where the forces and motions are provided by water, rather than a grinding wheel. 1, record 83, English, - abrasive%20jet
