Thermal windows are special energy efficient windows that are designed to slow the passage of heat. Thermal windows have 2-3 panes, and many of them have non-toxic gasses between the panes. Others will have special glass that blocks UV [ulraviolet] heat from the sun. Together, the panes, gas, and special glass slow heat from passing.... In summer, thermal windows block hot outside air from entering your air conditioned home. In winter, they stop heated air from escaping. 3, record 2, English, - thermal%20window

1, record 2, French, - fen%C3%AAtre%20thermique

Two main types of sample splitter are in common use, known as calibrated lead devices, and dividing valves. Most of these are based upon the principle that the head of the capillary column constitutes only a small proportion of the total outlet from the sample injection block. As the carrier gas enters the block it carries a small amount of the sample into the capillary column while the remainder is vented away through a larger opening. This can be done by having the capillary column held at the axis of a circular hole in the injection block, or by having it forming a narrow arm of a T-or Y-piece at the column head. In either case the amount going into the capillary column can often be further regulated by means of a tapered needle control. 1, record 5, English, - sample%20splitter

The term "solid state" refers to the fact that light in an LED is emitted from a solid object(a block of semiconductor) rather than from a vacuum or gas tube, as is the case in traditional incandescent light bulbs and fluorescent lamps. Unlike traditional lighting, however, SSL creates visible light with virtually no heat or parasitic energy dissipation. In addition, its solid-state nature provides for greater resistance to shock, vibration, and wear, thereby increasing its lifespan significantly. 3, record 6, English, - solid%2Dstate%20lighting
