Fire-tube boilers may be designed for vertical, inclined, or horizontal positions. One of the most generally used types is the horizontal-return-tube (HRT) boiler. In the HRT boiler, part of the heat from the combustion gases is transferred directly to the lower portion of the shell. The gases then make a return pass through the horizontal tubes or flues before being passed into the stack. 2, record 1, English, - horizontal%20return%2Dtube%20boiler

The... horizontal return tube boiler... gets it's name from the horizontal fire tubes which run back-to-front through the lower half of the boiler drum. The gas burner is located under the front half of the boiler drum. The hot gases then pass to the rear of the fire box where they turn round and return to the front via the fire tubes and into the smoke box.(see this picture for a clearer description). 4, record 1, English, - horizontal%20return%2Dtube%20boiler

An oil burner is defined by the National Oil Fuel Institute as a mechanical device for preparing fuel oil to combine with air under controlled conditions for combustion. Two methods(atomization and vaporization) are used for the preparation of fuel oil for the combustion process. Air for combustion is supplied by natural or mechanical draft. Ignition is generally accomplished by an electric spark, gas pilot flame, or oil pilot flame. Burners of different types operate with luminous or nonluminous flame. Operation may be continuous, intermittent, modulating, or high-low flame. 4, record 4, English, - oil%20burner

Gas-fired water heaters have a gas burner located below the tank, a thermostatic switch, a gas valve and a pilot light. The thermostat will open the gas valve when it senses the water temperature at the bottom of the tank has dropped below the present limit. Gas flows to the burner and is ignited by the pilot light, heating the tank from below. In addition, the hot exhaust gases are vented through a hollow core in the center of the tank to help heat the water. There are two sub-types : pure suspension and cyclonic. Pure suspension units are true "burners" in that a stable open flame(similar to a gas or oil burner flame) is created by air jets that are usually mounted in the wall of the combustor or boiler. Cyclonic suspension units have a refractory cylindrical combustion chamber into which the fuel particles and air are introduced tangentially. The long cyclonic gas circulation keeps the fuel circulating in the chamber, resulting in complete combustion of the fuel, but all ash normally exits with the hot exhaust gases. Fuel is fed to both types of these burners by pneumatic feeders with the fuel air stream forming the primary air supply. 2, record 22, English, - suspension%20burner

1, record 22, French, - chaudi%C3%A8re%20%C3%A0%20lit%20en%20suspension

The alternatives for nitrogen oxide control are boiler operation changes, combustion equipment modifications to reduce NOx formation, and flue gas treatment.... In the U. S. and Canada, combustion modification(CM) is the most common method of NOx reduction. NOx can be reduced by injecting the combustion air in two stages, normally by reducing air flow to the burner and injecting the remainder through "overfire" air ports in the side of the boiler. Low-NOx burners that accomplish staged conditions within the burner flame have also been developed. Staged combustion... reduces emission by 15-25%. 3, record 23, English, - staged%20combustion

An inspirator mixer, does not require a blower but does require high pressure gas,(can be dangerous) and is not very economical or efficient. The tip or nozzle is usually always a flame retention type tip. The reason this burner requires high pressure gas is that the gas needs to be moving at a high rate of speed in order to induce enough air for proper combustion. It is usually used for propane and in a situation where no electricity is available. If you have high pressure gas it is recommended that you use a regulator and switch to an aspirator mixer type system. 3, record 43, English, - inspirator%20mixer

A mechanical-draft burner which uses the energy of high-pressure gas(10 to 50 psi) to completely premix the air and gas. Gas is permitted to escape through a row of small orifices on the edge of propeller-like blades mounted on a free-spinning shaft. Reaction of the escaping gas rotates the blades, which are mechanically coupled to a fan that draws in the primary air. The speed of the fan varies with the gas pressure, thereby automatically adjusting the air volume to maintain optimum combustion. 1, record 47, English, - Fanmix%20burner

There are two basic types of aspirator-burners that are used in atomic absorption. The first is the total-consumption burner... The fuel and oxidant(support) gases are mixed and combust at the tip of the burner. The sample is drawn up into the flame by the "Venturi effect, "by the support gas. The gas creates a partial vacuum above the capillary barrel, causing the sample to be forced up the capillary. It is broken into a fine spray at the tip where the gases are turbulently mixed and burned. This is the usual process of "nebulization. "The burner is called total consumption because the entire aspirated sample enters the flame. 1, record 57, English, - total%2Dconsumption%20burner

[In flame spectroscopy], a burner in which fuel and oxidant are thoroughly mixed inside the burner housing before they leave the burner ports and enter the primary-combustion or inner zone of the flame. This type of burner usually produces an approximately laminar flame, and is commonly combined with a separate unit for nebulizing the sample. 1, record 61, English, - premix%20burner

The second type of burner, used in most commercial instruments, is the premix chamber burner, sometimes called the laminar-flow burner.... The fuel and support gases are mixed in a chamber before they enter the burner head(through a slot) where they combust. The sample solution is again aspirated through a capillary by the "Venturi effect" using the support gas for the aspiration. Large droplets of the sample condense and drain out of the chamber. The remaining fine droplets mix with the gases and enter the flame. As much as 90% of the droplets condense out, leaving only 10% to enter the flame. 2, record 61, English, - premix%20burner

The blow pipe was the first burner to produce a blue flame and, therefore, any great heat intensity. The blue flame was produced by blowing primary air into the base of the flame. The alternatives for nitrogen oxide control are boiler operation changes, combustion equipment modifications to reduce NOx formation, and flue gas treatment... In the U. S. and Canada, combustion modification(CM) is the most common method of NOx reduction. 2, record 86, English, - low%2DNOx%20burner

1, record 86, French, - br%C3%BBleur%20%C3%A0%20faible%20taux%20d%27%C3%A9missions%20de%20NOx

The Hot-Mix Paving Industry.... The volume of exhaust gas required to dry each ton of aggregate increases by more than 10% for each additional percent of moisture removed. Maintaining a production rate with increased moisture means that more exhaust gas may be created from combustion and evaporation of water than the fan can remove. This causes the pressure in the drum to become greater than the outside air. The back pressure thus created causes the familiar puff-back at the burner opening. 1, record 93, English, - puff%2Dback
