GAS COMPRESSIBILITY [2 records]

Record 1 2016-11-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Mechanical Transmission Systems
DEF

A hydraulic accumulator with or without separation between liquid and gas, in which the liquid is pressurized using the compressibility of an inert gas(for example nitrogen).

OBS

gas-loaded accumulator: term and definition standardized by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

OBS

gas-charged accumulator; gas-loaded accumulator; pneumatic accumulator: terms officially approved by the Lexicon Project Committes (New Brunswick).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Transmissions mécaniques
DEF

Record 2 2003-11-14

English

Subject field(s)
  • General Mechanics (Physics)
DEF

The amount a liquid gas or solid can be compressed before it changes state; the compressibility factor is usually expressed as [gamma], or the ratio of the specific heat Cp/Cv.

CONT

"compressibility factor" : Defined as p/VRT, where p is the pressure, V the volume, R the gas constant, and T the absolute temperature. It has the value 1 for an ideal gas, but may be greater or less than 1 for real gases.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Mécanique générale (Physique)
DEF
