A pressurized system in which water is vaporized to steam, the desired end product, by heat transferred from a source of higher temperature, usually the products of combustion from burning fuels. Steam thus generated may be used directly as a heating medium, or as the working fluid in a prime mover to convert thermal energy to mechanical work, which in turn may be converted to electrical energy. 4, record 1, English, - steam%20boiler

5, record 1, French, - chaudi%C3%A8re%20%C3%A0%20vapeur
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
6, record 1, French, - chaudi%C3%A8re%20%C3%A0%20vapeur
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 OBS
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 3 OBS
7, record 1, French, - chaudi%C3%A8re%20%C3%A0%20vapeur

modulating fire. Varying the firing rate as the load varies. This results in longer burner operation because the firing rate is lowered as temperature or pressure builds up toward the cutoff point. It decreases on-off operation and increases the efficiency of the system. 2, record 3, English, - modulating%20fire
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 CONT
There are four widely used operating configurations for gas fired appliances : modulating fire, on-off, hi-low, and multi-stage firing. Modulating fire is accomplished by mechanically varying the size of the gas admittance opening of one or more special "modulating" gas valves. With the gas valve completely open the boiler fires at it's full fire rate. The unit is said to be at "full turndown" when it fires at it's lowest firing rate. The "turndown ratio" is the ratio of full fire rate to full turndown firing rate and is a function of boiler design. A turn down ratio of 5 : 1 would indicate that a boiler is capable of a full turndown firing rate of 20%(5 : 1(100% fire : 20% fire). 3, record 3, English, - modulating%20fire

5, record 4, French, - chaudi%C3%A8re%20%C3%A0%20gaz

A combined cycle process combines two different power cycles in such a manner that the combined cycle operates over a larger temperature range than does either of the individual cycles. This produces a higher overall thermal efficiency. There are two basic categories of combined cycles : recuperative and high-efficiency... In a typical high-efficiency combined cycle, the exhaust gas stream from a gas turbine is a source of preheated combustion air for a fired steam boiler. If, for example, a 50 MW gas turbine is combined with a 450 MW steam turbine, the combined cycle efficiency would be very close to that of the largest conventional steam turbine units currently operating. 1, record 5, English, - high%2Defficiency%20combined%20cycle
