When specifying a mass flow control system, the first consideration is whether the process will take place at constant system pressure, constant throughput, and/or predetermined gas flow ratio. Another important consideration is whether system control will be automatic(microprocessor) or manual(setpoint potentiometers).... There are three major state-of-the-art systems that can be identified. The first uses a flowmeter(s)... as the primary transducer(s) to monitor mass flow. Using this format, a signal is compared in control circuitry to a setpoint signal. This generates an error voltage which is used to drive a valve, thus continuously controlling the flow. The second major type of system uses a pressure transducer as the primary sensing element. System pressure is held either constant or varied at a predetermined rate by controlling the mass flow rate of process gases. This leads to a third type of system that slaves valves and flowmeters to the primary sensing. 1, record 7, English, - mass%20flow%20controller

An inspirator mixer, does not require a blower but does require high pressure gas, (can be dangerous) and is not very economical or efficient. The tip or nozzle is usually always a flame retention type tip. The reason this burner requires high pressure gas is that the gas needs to be moving at a high rate of speed in order to induce enough air for proper combustion. It is usually used for propane and in a situation where no electricity is available. If you have high pressure gas it is recommended that you use a regulator and switch to an aspirator mixer type system. 3, record 8, English, - inspirator%20mixer

Flame Emissivity Detector. Another detector based on monitoring a specific property of a flame, its emissivity, was developed by Grant, who mixed coal gas in constant proportions with the effluent from a chromatographic column; this coal gas/effluent mixture burned at a wide stainless steel jet. The emissivity of the flame, changing as the flame's carbon content is varied, is measured with the aid of a metal reflector, glass condensing lens, and selenium photocell; these are held in place from each other at their proper optical distances.... For low background emissivity values, response is nonlinear. However, by controlling the coal gas flow rate to maintain emissivity between 0. 60 and 0. 80 mV, detector response is linear over a wide temperature range. 1, record 14, English, - flame%20emissivity%20detector

For the determination of combustible components of organic origin in gas chromatographic effluents, various principles of detection based on flame reactions have been utilized, namely, the hydrogen flame temperature, flame emissivity, and flame ionization detectors. In all reported systems, specific flame properties were monitored. Whereas Scott measured the flame temperature of the exit gas at a small jet and Grant the flame’s emissivity by optical means, Mc William and Dewar and Harley et al. advanced new detection concepts based on the electrical or ionization properties of hydrogen/oxygen flames. 1, record 14, English, - flame%20emissivity%20detector

Semiconductive Thin Film Detector. Using the known principle that the adsorption and desorption of gases cause a change in electrical conductivity of semiconductors, Seiyama et al. developed a new chromatographic detector for gaseous components.... The current, depending upon the resistance of the film, is converted to voltage by the variable resistance, which is fed without amplification to a recorder. Resistance also adjusts the input voltage of the recorder at desired sensitivity. Using zinc oxide as an example of a typical film material, the conductivity of its film maintains a fixed value when the nitrogen carrier gas is passed at a constant flow rate throught the borosilicate glass tube. When a small amount of another gas or vapor is added to the carrier gas, its conductivity is changed. 1, record 16, English, - semiconductive%20thin%20film%20detector

A sequence of equipment for the sampling of flue gases which includes an intake nozzle on a probe, a filter, collectors for polluting gases, a condenser, a gas flow meter, and a pump or aspirator to suck the gas through the train. The flow rate and other gas conditions are designed to be the same as in the flue, and if this is achieved, the two flows are described as isokinetic. 1, record 17, English, - sampling%20train

In this instrument, used to measure gas flows, a swirl is imparted to the flowing fluid by a fixed set of radial vanes. As this swirl goes into an expanding tube, it forms a precessing vortex that is detected by a heated thermistor sensor. The frequency of the precession is claimed to be proportional to the volumetric flow rate within an accuracy of 0. 75%. 1, record 18, English, - vortex%2Dprecession%20flowmeter

Orifice Scrubbers. In orifice-type scrubbers(Figure 15), particle-liquid contact is obtained through the effects of the carrier gas velocity and, therefore, performance depends on the flow rate of the gas. Both efficiency and pressure drop vary with carrier gas flow rate, with the normal pressure drop ranging from 2-6 in. of water. 1, record 19, English, - orifice%20scrubber

(...) vertical chambers-usually of circular cross-section-with grate hearths through which oxygen-bearing gas, usually air, is blown. As the concentrate is fed to the chamber, air is blown through the grate at a rate sufficient to hold the solid particles in suspension, the mixture of air and solids having the flow characteristics of a fluid. Since each sulfide particle is in constant turbulent motion in the furnace atmosphere, roasting is uniform and rapid, with efficient heat transfer and high oxygen utilization. 3, record 20, English, - fluid%20bed%20roaster

1, record 20, French, - four%20%C3%A0%20lit%20fluidis%C3%A9
