Record 4 2014-12-29

English

Subject field(s)
  • Plastic Materials
DEF

The property of a material by which a negligible portion of the transmitted light undergoes scattering, thereby enabling objects to be distinguished clearly through the material.

CONT

The advantage of the [stretch blow molding] process is an improvement in resin performance, such as bottle impact strength, cold strength, transparency, surface gloss, stiffness, and gas barrier, which permit lighter weight, lower cost bottles, use of lower cost resins with less impact modifiers, or products packaged that normally would not be suitable.

OBS

transparency: term and definition standardized by ISO.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Matières plastiques
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Chemistry
  • Compressed and Liquefied Gas (Petroleum)
DEF

A material which is a gas at normal room temperature(20ºC) and pressure but is packaged as a pressurized gas, dissolved gas or gas liquified by compression or refrigeration.

CONT

The Controlled Products Regulations describe technical criteria for identifying materials which are classified as compressed gases. Regardless of whether a compressed gas is packaged in an aerosol can, a pressurized cylinder or a refrigerated container, it must by stored and handled very carefully. Puncturing or damaging the container or allowing the container to become hot may result in an explosion.

French

Domaine(s)

English

Subject field(s)
  • Cheese and Dairy Products
OBS

Pressurized or instant whipping cream : Pressurized cream, sometimes referred to as instant-whip cream is a 20 to 40 percent fat product, sweetened, flavored with vanilla, and packaged with an inert gas under pressure. For this purpose, nitrous oxide has been used successfully. Upon release of the gas-saturated, pressurized cream through a special valve, the cream explodes instantly into a relatively stable, almost frothy product not entirely unlike whipped cream.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Laiterie, beurrerie et fromagerie
OBS

Crème sous pression. [...]

Subject field(s)
  • Dust Removal
CONT

Andersen 2000 Inc and Montair Andersen bv have been responsible for many of today's standards in the area of scrubber technology. Not only do we manufacture complete packaged scrubbing systems for all types of industrial applications, we also design and manufacture scrubbers for applications including fine particulate removal, gas absorption, and dust and large particulate matter collection.... Some of the scrubber technologies available from Andersen are Venturi Scrubbers, Packed Bed Scrubbers, Ejector Scrubbers, Triven Scrubbers, and Low Energy Scrubbers. These systems all use liquid as part of the scrubbing process. And as a result, they are referred to as "Wet Scrubbers".... We also offer "Dry Scrubbers" including Dry Injection Type and the Spray Dry Absorption Type. These use a dry alkaline powder to absorb acid gases and a fabric filter Baghouse to collect particulate matter.

CONT

Bennett Remtech utilizes a dry scrubber to remove acid gases. Flue gas is quenched to approach the acid dewpoint temperature. The gas then comes into contact with a reagent such as lime. The acid gases are removed, without any required water treatment.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Dépoussiérage
CONT

Subject field(s)
  • Plastics Manufacturing
CONT

Unplasticized PVC presents some processing difficulties due to its high melt viscosity; in addition, the finished product is too brittle for some applications. To overcome these problems and to produce toughening, certain polymeric additives are usually added to the PVC. These materials, known as impact modifiers, are generally semicompatible and often somewhat rubbery in nature. Among the most important impact modifiers in use today are butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymers (nitrile rubber), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) graft terpolymers, methacrylate-butadiene-styrene (MBS) terpolymers, chlorinated polyethylene, and some polyacrylates.

Domaine(s)
  • Plasturgie
CONT
