APCI is a mode of ionization that is similar to ESI [electrospray ionization] in that ionization takes place at atmospheric pressure, entails nebulization and desolvation, and incorporates an interface design, which is similar to that of ESI. A key difference between APCI and ESI is that ESI is based on ions that are formed in solution, whereas APCI uses ions that are formed in the gas phase. In APCI, instead of high voltage being applied to the inlet capillary, mobile phase from the separation device is evaporated within a heater, and the vapor passes a needle with an applied current, which generates a corona discharge for the formation of stable reaction ions. 3, record 1, English, - atmospheric%20pressure%20chemical%20ionization

2, record 1, French, - ionisation%20chimique%20%C3%A0%20pression%20atmosph%C3%A9rique

... Calcium and Magnesium react with other chemicals in the water. The warm water acts as a catalyst and increases the number of reactions depending on the concentration of calcium and magnesium. The reaction which takes place is the dissociation of calcium hydrocarbonate, formula : Ca(HC03) and magnesium hydrocarbonate, formula : Mg(HC0[ susbcript 3]) 2. Both of these are soluble solids, which means they can dissolve when put in water. When these two soluble salts dissociate, they form carbon dioxide(a gas), which is released from the water, and calcium and magnesium carbonate. These two compounds are not soluble and are therefore taken out of solution. And it is these substances that cause the filmy, fuzzy crud on the glass of your aquarium when the water evaporates. 3, record 24, English, - magnesium%20bis%28hydrogencarbonate%29

San Marcos River Basin. The lithology and the water flow conditions are the major factors that determine the chemical composition of the waters and the hydrogeochemical patterns. We can distinguish the following water types: sodium calcium hydrocarbonate for waters from the sedimentary-effusive rocks, magnesium hydrocarbonate for the waters which originate in the ultrabasic massif, and calcium hydrocarbonate for that waters which flow in the karst areas (at the source, caves, exsurgences and springs from the saturation zone). 4, record 24, English, - magnesium%20bis%28hydrogencarbonate%29

Basically, the gasification of solid fuels takes place at elevated temperatures. The heat required for the heating and conversion, is either provided through partial combustion(autothermic process) or through supply of external heat(allothermic process). Compared to the autothermic gasification, the allothermic gasification has the advantage that the fuel does not have to be partially burned in the gasification zone, in order to provide the necessary heat. In the allothermic gasification, the heat can be provided from any external sources, such as for instance high-temperature core reactors, but also from combustion chambers, wherein a fraction of the gas product is burned. 3, record 25, English, - allothermal%20gasification

Oilfields, after a certain production period, are then called mature fields. Mature fields are those where the recovered oil fraction is close to the final recovery factor. Its mature phase is generally accompanied by an increasing production of water or gas, plus the aging of surface and subsurface equipment. To revitalize mature fields, a series of technologies is developed to increase the final recovery factor through treatments on a field (the so-called tertiary petroleum recovery) or well (stimulation, recompletion, treatments and logging) scale, in addition to optimizing the techniques relating to oil lift, its surface flow and treatment. 2, record 37, English, - mature%20field%20revitalization

Many mature gas fields also have a fairly significant production decline, especially when development drilling has come to an end. These mature fields can be revitalized in many ways. In some instances, efforts are focused on the reservoir with further drilling to drain potentially unswept hydrocarbons with infill wells or horizontal laterals. The horizontal drilling might be from new wellbores or wells that are currently temporarily abandoned or near their economic limit. With the increase in horizontal-well activity, there is an abundance of new technology with advances in gravel-pack design, underbalanced drilling with coiled tubing, and coiled-tubing fracturing. Besides these production improvements, operators are revamping both downhole and surface facilities to help breathe new life into older fields. Advances are taking place in the areas of artificial lift, intelligent-well completions, expandable tubulars, and others. 3, record 37, English, - mature%20field%20revitalization

Superfluid Helium What Is It? As the temperature of helium gas is lowered to approximately 5. 2°K, a phase transition to ordinary liquid helium(He I) takes place. The latter is unremarkable and its behavior is identical to any other liquid. As temperature is lowered further(at moderate pressures) helium does not solidify. Rather, it undergoes a phase change to a second liquid phase He II at temperature of about 2. 17°K.... the He II phase persists all the way to absolute zero.... The He II phase is referred to as superfluid helium because of its remarkable properties, including the ability to flow through microscopic passages [holes as small as 10-7 centimeters in diameter] with no apparent friction; the quantization of vortices; and the ability to support four wave modes : first sound which is analogous to sound in ordinary gases and liquids, second sound which carries temperature and entropy perturbations with virtually no pressure variations, third sound which are waves on thin films, and fourth sound which are acoustic-like waves in the "superfluid" component of He II. 5, record 42, English, - helium%20II

The [Hydrogen/sulphide-water] DTP can be explained as follow. When water and hydrogen sulfide are brought in contact with each other at a given low temperature, say 35°C, an isotopic exchange between hydrogen and deuterium takes place. The deuterium tends to concentrate in liquid phase. 2, record 44, French, - section%20d%27enrichissement

Other reactions in the dough during baking, particularly those relevant to bread quality, include starch gelatinization, gluten protein denaturation and enzyme inactivation. Wheat protein denaturation in dough starts at about 70 degrees C and proceeds to a point where the gas cell walls become fixed and expansion terminates. While internal crumb temperatures do not exceed 100 degrees C crust temperature reaches 195 degrees C. At this high temperature, complex browning reactions of the Maillard-type take place between reducing sugars and free amino acids. When specifying a mass flow control system, the first consideration is whether the process will take place at constant system pressure, constant throughput, and/or predetermined gas flow ratio. Another important consideration is whether system control will be automatic(microprocessor) or manual(setpoint potentiometers).... There are three major state-of-the-art systems that can be identified. The first uses a flowmeter(s)... as the primary transducer(s) to monitor mass flow. Using this format, a signal is compared in control circuitry to a setpoint signal. This generates an error voltage which is used to drive a valve, thus continuously controlling the flow. The second major type of system uses a pressure transducer as the primary sensing element. System pressure is held either constant or varied at a predetermined rate by controlling the mass flow rate of process gases. This leads to a third type of system that slaves valves and flowmeters to the primary sensing. 1, record 48, English, - mass%20flow%20controller

Flame Emissivity Detector. Another detector based on monitoring a specific property of a flame, its emissivity, was developed by Grant, who mixed coal gas in constant proportions with the effluent from a chromatographic column; this coal gas/effluent mixture burned at a wide stainless steel jet. The emissivity of the flame, changing as the flame's carbon content is varied, is measured with the aid of a metal reflector, glass condensing lens, and selenium photocell; these are held in place from each other at their proper optical distances.... For low background emissivity values, response is nonlinear. However, by controlling the coal gas flow rate to maintain emissivity between 0. 60 and 0. 80 mV, detector response is linear over a wide temperature range. 1, record 55, English, - flame%20emissivity%20detector

For the determination of combustible components of organic origin in gas chromatographic effluents, various principles of detection based on flame reactions have been utilized, namely, the hydrogen flame temperature, flame emissivity, and flame ionization detectors. In all reported systems, specific flame properties were monitored. Extrusion stretch blow moulding(ESBM). A parison is extruded and as the preblow mould closes, a mandrel descends to form the bottle neck. The parison is subsequently pinched and inflated, then conditioned at the optimum temperature for orientation in the next stage. Transfer of the blown and conditioned preform to the stretch-blow mould takes place; fabrication of the finished part is achieved by stretching in the circumferential direction(pneumatic inflation) and in the longitudinal direction(mechanical push-rod), followed by rapid cooling to prevent relaxation of the(biaxial) molecular orientation. This process is centred on oriented PVC(OPVC) bottle manufacture, for transparent containers with enhanced clarity and greater resistance to gas permeation, higher impact strength and burst pressure. 1, record 56, English, - extrusion%20stretch%20blow%20moulding

Retort technology... charcoal processes... The Lambiotte continuous carbonization process is related to the multi-stage type reactor.... Wood is fed continuously through a vertical cylinder into a retort. There, it undergoes three different treatments, moving slowly down to the bottom of the retort. In the first, it is dried, in the second, the charcoal process takes place, and in the third, charcoal is cooled. For the drying stage, pyroligneous gases are removed from the carbonization zone and fanned to the drying zone where they burn with a controlled supply of air. For the cooling stage, gases are removed from under the carbonization stage, where tars have been cracked, and reinjected at the bottom of the retort after having crossed a water cooled system. The sufficiently cooled charcoal is extracted from the bottom of the retort. The level of raw material inside the retort is kept at the maximum height possible. The excess of gas(50%) is generally flared off but can be directed through a by-product recovery system as for the Sific process. The process is fully automated. 1, record 58, English, - Lambiotte%20continuous%20carbonization%20process

Tar and char are the primary products due to slow devolatilization of the feedstock, and the secondary coking and polymerization(recombination) reactions which are allowed to occur in the reactor after primary pyrolysis has taken place. 3, record 59, English, - conventional%20pyrolysis

spouted bed gasifier.... a single-chamber air-fed gasifier operated on a cyclical basis, to yield a high calorific-value gas essentially uncontaminated by carbon dioxide or nitrogen. Wood chips or wood pellets are fed on top of a bed of hot sand in the reactor, and are then mixed by spouting the bed using steam. Some gasification occurs during this phase, but most takes place during the ensuing "cooking" phase during which the bed is static. When the temperature has fallen to a suitably low value air is admitted to burn the char and raise the temperature of the sand to its original value. Wood is then added to begin a new cycle. 1, record 61, English, - spouted%2Dbed%20gasifier

A method of blasting coal has been undercut, topcut, or sheared. Into one end of a seamless high-grade Mo-steel cylinder 2 to 3 inches in diameter and from 36 inches to 60 inches long is put a cartridge containing a mixture of potassium perchlorate and charcoal with an electric match. The other end is sealed by a metal disc weaker than the shell and held in place by a cap which has holes at about 45° to the axis of the cylinder. The cylinder is filled with liquid carbon dioxide at a pressure of 1, 000 pounds per square inch and inserted in the borehole with the cap holes pointing outward. The heating mixture is lit and raises the gas pressure so that the disc is sheared; the carbon dioxide escaping through the angular holes tends to hold the cylinder in place, break and push the coal forward. 1, record 64, English, - carbon%20dioxide%20blasting

2, record 71, French, - transfert%20de%20chaleur%20par%20contact%20direct
