Optical gas imaging(OGI) cameras are specialized inspection cameras used to visually detect and monitor gas leaks and emissions through infrared technology.... OGI cameras operate by capturing infrared radiation emitted from gases, which is invisible to the naked eye. This capability allows them to detect gases such as methane, sulfur hexafluoride, and many volatile organic compounds... 3, record 1, English, - optical%20gas%20imaging%20camera

The Earth is surrounded by a blanket of air, which we call the atmosphere. It reaches over 560 kilometers(348 miles) from the surface of the Earth, so we are only able to see what occurs fairly close to the ground.... Life on Earth is supported by the atmosphere, solar energy, and our planet's magnetic fields. The atmosphere absorbs the energy from the Sun, recycles water and other chemicals, and works with the electrical and magnetic forces to provide a moderate climate. The atmosphere also protects us from high-energy radiation and the frigid vacuum of space. The envelope of gas surrounding the Earth changes from the ground up. Four distinct layers have been identified using thermal characteristics(temperature changes), chemical composition, movement, and density [:] the troposphere..., the stratosphere..., the mesophere..., the thermosphere. The exosphere starts at the top to the thermosphere and continues until it merges with interplanetary gases, or space. In this region of the atmosphere, Hydrogen and Helium are the prime components and are only present at extremely low densities. 3, record 21, English, - Earth%27s%20atmosphere

In gas correlation spectroscopy, a cell containing the target gas is placed in front of the sensor. The scene is viewed twice, through the target gas cell and through an empty cell. The gas in the cell serves as a "matched filter" to the target gas in the plume. The "modulated" transmission of the system is very high at the spectral bands of the target gas while it practically blocks transmission at all other wavelengths. The system has a very high Etendue (throughput) and is simultaneously responsive to several spectral lines or bands -- increasing the overall sensitivity. 2, record 22, English, - gas%20correlation%20spectroscopy

Orbiting Astronomical Observatory(OAO), series of four orbiting observatories launched between 1966 and 1972 by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) to provide astronomical data in the ultraviolet and X-ray wavelengths filtered out by the earth's atmosphere. Only two of the four launches were successful, however. OAO-2, launched in 1978, which carried two large telescopes in addition to a cluster of four ultraviolet telescopes, four photoelectric telescopes, and a number of spectrometers and other devices, weighed 4, 200 lb(1, 900 kg) and was the heaviest satellite orbited to that time. Working primarily with ultraviolet radiation, it was able to photograph very young stars. OAO-3, which was also called Copernicus, was launched in 1972. Carrying what was at that time the largest telescope ever orbited and three smaller X-ray telescopes, OAO-3 was primarily used in the study of ultraviolet radiation from interstellar gas and dust and from stars near the edges of the Milky Way. 2, record 27, English, - Orbiting%20Astronomical%20Observatory

1, record 33, French, - d%C3%A9tecteur%20%C3%A0%20photoionisation
