Some authors suggest the removal of any glial tissue overlying(or adjacent to) the optic pit. One study looked at nine patients undergoing PPV [pars plana vitrectomy], PVD [posterior vitreous detachment] induction, laser photocoagulation and gas tamponade. Serous maculopathy resolved in six out of six patients in which the glial tissue surrounding the optic pit was removed.... Though glial tissue peeling has proven beneficial in a limited group of studies, precaution must be taken when performing this procedure due to the glial tissue's close proximity to the optic nerve. 2, record 1, English, - glial%20tissue%20peeling

Vitrectomy is a surgical procedure undertaken by a specialist where the vitreous humor gel that fills the eye cavity is removed to provide better access to the retina. This allows for a variety of repairs, including the removal of scar tissue, laser repair of retinal detachments and treatment of macular holes. Once surgery is complete, saline, a gas bubble or silicone oil may be injected into the vitreous gel to help hold the retina in position. 3, record 2, English, - vitrectomy

Venturi scrubbers can be used for removing gaseous pollutants; however, they are not used when removal of gaseous pollutants is the only concern. The high inlet gas velocities in a Venturi scrubber result in a very short contact time between the liquid and gas phases. This short contact time limits gas absorption. However, because Venturis have a relatively open design compared to other scrubbers, they are still very useful for simultaneous gaseous and particulate pollutant removal... 2, record 7, English, - Venturi%20scrubber

The water then flows to a properly sized multi media filter which will remove all oxidized iron and manganese. The name "electrostatic" precipitation for this process is open to some criticism on the grounds that even though the electric field is static, the drift of the charged gaseous ions and particles give rise to a current and so the qualification "static" is not strictly applicable. For this reason the term "electro-precipitation" is possibly to be preferred, but, on the other hand, this approximates rather closely to the accepted term "electro-deposition" used for another process, and so might give rise to some confusion. 3, record 12, English, - electrostatic%20precipitation

A packed tower scrubber removes soluble and noxious gases, and mists with droplet sizes greater than 5 µm, from gas streams. Contaminant gases, such as hydrochloric acid, sulphur dioxide and ammonia vapour, are made to flow through a bed packed with media. The media can be plastic, ceramic or stainless steel rings or saddles, designed to provide a high surface area yet allow a high throughput. A scrubbing liquor is pumped through the bed, intimately mixes with the gas stream and dissolves the contaminant gases. 2, record 23, English, - scrubbing%20liquid

Andersen 2000 Inc and Montair Andersen bv have been responsible for many of today's standards in the area of scrubber technology. Not only do we manufacture complete packaged scrubbing systems for all types of industrial applications, we also design and manufacture scrubbers for applications including fine particulate removal, gas absorption, and dust and large particulate matter collection.... Some of the scrubber technologies available from Andersen are Venturi Scrubbers, Packed Bed Scrubbers, Ejector Scrubbers, Triven Scrubbers, and Low Energy Scrubbers. These systems all use liquid as part of the scrubbing process. And as a result, they are referred to as "Wet Scrubbers".... We also offer "Dry Scrubbers" including Dry Injection Type and the Spray Dry Absorption Type. These use a dry alkaline powder to absorb acid gases and a fabric filter Baghouse to collect particulate matter. 2, record 24, English, - dry%20scrubber

The most common approach to color removal has been by means of lime coagulation, and a number of process variations are used.... [Lime] is added to the wastewater prior to the primary clarifier where it greatly improves settling rates and removes substantial color. The overflow from the clarifier is carbonated(using CO2 from the kiln lime stack gas) in order to precipitate residual soluble lime and color, and is then clarified again. The lime sludge from both clarifiers is thickened and reburned in the lime kiln. 1, record 37, English, - lime%20coagulation

1, record 37, French, - coagulation%20par%20la%20chaux

Reactors. The most widely applied reactors for gasification of biomass are the moving bed types and the fluidized bed types.... Moving bed-counter current. The moving bed reactor is a vertical shaft through which the biomass flows slowly downwards as a packed bed. The reactor has a gastight feeding system at the top and an ash removal system at the bottom. The moving bed reactor is used for biomass having dimensions of 1 to 10 cm. Three sub-types can be distinguished : cocurrent, countercurrent and cross-current reactors. The countercurrent moving bed gasifier is the most simple reactor type. The gas, produced in the reduction zone, leaves the reactor together with the pyrolysis products and the steam from the drying zone. The producer gas is rich in hydrocarbons and it has a temperature of about 400°C. The gas can be used for direct heating purposes. If it is to be used for electricity generation by internal combustion engines, it has to be cleaned thoroughly. 2, record 38, English, - countercurrent%20moving%20bed%20reactor
