The oxygen sensor(also known as an O2 sensor, lambda sensor, or EGO sensor) is one of the most critical sensors on a fuel-injected engine. It resembles a spark plug and is located in the exhaust manifold between the turbo and catalytic converter. When at operating temperature it becomes a miniature battery which generates a voltage based on the differential between the oxygen content of the exhaust gas and the oxygen content of the ambient air. By this method it measures the amount of oxygen in the exhaust stream, allowing the ECM to compensate to some degree for various fuel grades, engine wear, altitude changes, usage of oxygenated fuel, and more. Another big benefit is the ability to keep emissions of carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, and unburned hydrocarbons as low as possible. 3, record 2, English, - oxygen%20sensor

2, record 11, French, - syst%C3%A8me%20de%20gestion%20de%20l%27air%20des%20modules%20am%C3%A9ricains

The Gas Analyzer System for Metabolic Analysis Physiology(GASMAP) device is used to monitor and analyze inhaled and exhaled breath streams to determine their gas concentrations. The primary gases of interest are nitrogen(N²), oxygen(O²), carbon dioxide(CO²), argon(Ar), acetylene(C²H²), sulfur hexafluoride(SF6), helium(He), and carbon monoxide(C18 O). The GASMAP flight hardware consists of two components : an analyzer module and a calibration module, both of which are housed in drawers inside Spacelab. The analyzer module contains all the sensor and electronic hardware of the GASMAP. 3, record 12, English, - gas%20analyzer%20system%20for%20metabolic%20analysis%20physiology

Sensor composed of an indicating and a reference electrode which uses a gas-permeable membrane or an air-gap to separate the sample solution from the thin film of an intermediate solution, which is either held between the gas membrane and ion-sensing membrane of the electrode, or placed on the surface of the electrode using a wetting agent(e. g. air-gap electrode). 1, record 13, English, - gas%20sensing%20electrode

This intermediate solution interacts with the gaseous species in such a way as to produce a change in a measured value (e.g. pH) of the intermediate solution. This change is then sensed by the ion-selective electrode and is proportional to the partial pressure of the gaseous species in the sample. 1, record 13, English, - gas%20sensing%20electrode

In this instrument, used to measure gas flows, a swirl is imparted to the flowing fluid by a fixed set of radial vanes. As this swirl goes into an expanding tube, it forms a precessing vortex that is detected by a heated thermistor sensor. The frequency of the precession is claimed to be proportional to the volumetric flow rate within an accuracy of 0. 75%. 1, record 15, English, - vortex%2Dprecession%20flowmeter
