Well test flaring occurs during drilling and testing of all oil and gas wells. This is a standard practice used to determine the types of fluids the well can produce, the pressure and flow rates of fluids and other characteristics of the underground reservoir. If there are pipelines nearby, operators may be able to direct the test gas to a processing plant and this process is called "in-line testing. "This is not a practice that is feasible for some exploratory wells as there may not be any pipelines and processing plants nearby. The pressure, flow and composition of the gas has to be determined before it can be safely handled by the pipelines and processing plants. This information determines the economic value of the well and what type of production facilities will be installed. … Some well test flaring may be necessary after certain well servicing operations. The average flaring duration is 2. 5 days. 1, record 12, English, - well%20test%20flaring

Occasionally, concentrations of chemicals in water may be written as grams per cubic meter (g/m³). This is the same as grams per 1,000 liters, which may be converted to milligrams per liter (mg/L). Ion propulsion is a technology that involves ionizing a gas to propel a craft. Instead of a spacecraft being propelled with standard chemicals, the gas xenon(which is like neon or helium, but heavier) is given an electrical charge, or ionized. It is then electrically accelerated to a speed of about 30 km/second. When xenon ions are emitted at such high speed as exhaust from a spacecraft, they push the spacecraft in the opposite direction. 6, record 21, English, - ion%20propulsion

dry standard cubic meters(dscm) : Concentration of contaminants in gases emitted from sources(such as cement kilns) are generally expressed as a weight of that material per a volume of gas. Emissions from sources often contain water vapor from evaporation of water in the processed material or as water from combustion of hydrocarbons. This amount varies from source to source and at variable temperatures from source to source. To make an emission rate meaningful for comparison to another source or to a permit limit, the emission rate must be stated as a weight per(dry) gas at standard conditions. The specific standard conditions are set by the applicable authority, often a national laboratory group. 3, record 22, English, - dry%20standard%20cubic%20meter

The Electrostatic Levitation Furnace(ELF)... is a Materials Research Facility that uses electrostatic levitation for containerless sample processing. Laser heating provides for sample heating to temperatures of up to 2000, ºC(3632ºF) in a gas atmosphere or under vacuum. Observation is provided by a pyrometer, a thermal imaging system and a video camera. The space between the panes of glass can be filled with gases that insulate better than air. Argon, sulfur hexafluoride, and krypton are among the gases that have been used for this purpose. Gas fills add little to the cost of most windows, and have proven most effective when used in conjunction with low-E coatings. For these reasons, some manufacturers have made gas fills standard in their low-E windows. 3, record 31, French, - densit%C3%A9%20de%20vapeur

Sharp, Blue Flame. When the proper ratio of gas to air is maintained, there will be a sharp, blue flame. Both the outer envelope and the inner cone will be pointed and the sides will be straight. the flame will be resting on the burner ports and there will not be any noticeable blowing noise. The flame will ignite smoothly on demand from the thermostat. Also, it will burn with a nonluminous flame. This is the most desirable flame for heating purposes on standard heating units. 1, record 40, English, - blue%20flame

Gas chromatography(GC). The use of GCs for detecting organics is rapidly becoming a standard technique in air pollution analysis.... GC systems are reliable, expensive and extremely sensitive.... Commercial GC systems are provided by many companies, and systems by Finnegan, Hewlett-Packard and Varian are among the better known. Commercial ambient monitoring GCs are made by Bendix(8200) and Beckman(6800) and are called Ambient Hydrocarbon Monitors. Total organic content of the air with and without methane is measured with GC-FID systems. 1, record 41, English, - ambient%20hydrocarbon%20monitor

Burner Efficiency Tests and Adjustments... A smoke spot tester is used to measure the soot content of flues gases. The serviceman will adjust the air intake band on the burner until a visually smokeless flame is produced in the combustion chamber. The probe of the smoke testing apparatus is inserted through the hole in the flue pipe and a flue gas sample is drawn through a piece of filter paper. The resulting soot mark on the paper is compared in intensity to a standard chart. The chart shows measurements labelled 0 to 9 and most residential oil furnaces can burn cleanly enough for a 0 to 1 rating... a number 2 smoke is ideal. 1, record 42, English, - smoke%20spot%20tester
