Thermal windows are special energy efficient windows that are designed to slow the passage of heat. Thermal windows have 2-3 panes, and many of them have non-toxic gasses between the panes. Others will have special glass that blocks UV [ulraviolet] heat from the sun. Together, the panes, gas, and special glass slow heat from passing.... In summer, thermal windows block hot outside air from entering your air conditioned home. In winter, they stop heated air from escaping. 3, record 1, English, - thermal%20window

1, record 1, French, - fen%C3%AAtre%20thermique

An idle-stop system, also commonly known as a start-stop system, is essentially what makes up today's increasingly popular so-called mild hybrids.... The battery in a mild hybrid is still very important, but its main purpose is as a part of the idle-stop system that shuts off the gasoline engine when a mild hybrid is at rest, coasting or slowing down. For instance, a stop at a red light at an intersection will cause the engine to cut off. When the car is idle, no gas will burn inside the engine. Once the light turns green and the driver applies pressure to the gas pedal, the engine should switch back on seamlessly, as though it hadn’t been turned off at all. 1, record 4, English, - idle%2Dstop%20system

Overspeed conditions can occur in an engine for a number of reasons, such as for example, a sudden unforeseeable reduction in the engine load, a failure in the metering valve of the engine's fuel delivery system, or an erroneous signal from an associated electronic engine control(EEC) which modulates the metering valve to an excessively high flow setting. It is known to provide an overspeed protection system that monitors a speed of the engine, such as the rotational speed of the power turbine of a gas turbine engine, and upon detection of an overspeed condition will reduce or stop the flow of fuel to the engine from the fuel delivery system. 2, record 6, English, - overspeed%20protection%20system

The lack of margins in selectivity and the sensitivity of etching rates to other variables such as loading(i. e., the total area to be etched) in plasma etching have made it necessary to develop a positive means of determining the moment etching should stop, rather than relying of fixed times. Most end-point detectors developed to date are based on gas analysis of one sort or another. They determine the instant that either the material being etched has largely disappeared or the material beneath that layer is being attacked. Detecting spectral lines in the plasma related to a particular reaction product is the simplest way, but it cannot be employed in all cases. 1, record 7, English, - plasma%20end%2Dpoint%20detector
