GAS TURBINE ROTOR [5 records]

Record 1 2011-05-17

English

Subject field(s)
  • Equipment (Oil and Natural Gas Extraction)
DEF

A drill developed in the U.S.S.R. for drilling deep oil wells. One type is designed as a turbine and driven by the drilling fluid which is circulated at high pressure.

CONT

There are two types of turbodrill or down-hole mud motor : the turbine, of which there are about six successful types, and the Dynadrill, a Moyno pump operating in reverse, consisting of a spiral shaft contained within a rubber sleeve.... The down-hole turbine is basically similar to a gas turbine having a multi-stage stator and rotor.

CONT

When a turbodrill is used, rotary motion is imparted only at the bit; therefore, it is not necessary to rotate the drill stem. Although straight holes can be drilled with the tool, it is used often in directional drilling.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Outillage (Extraction du pétrole et du gaz)
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance
CONT

This invention relates to an adjustable clearance control for rotor blade tips in a gas turbine engine, particularly a control that employs a radially adjustable rub strip for said rotor blade tips.

PHR

End cap rub strip.

PHR

Abradable rub strip.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Turbines
  • Food Industries
  • Aircraft Systems
DEF

A rotary engine that extracts energy from a fluid flow.

OBS

The simplest turbines have one moving part, a rotor assembly, which is a shaft with blades attached. Moving fluid acts on the blades, or the blades react to the flow, so that they rotate and impart energy to the rotor. Early turbine examples are windmills and water wheels. Gas, steam, and water turbines have a casing around the blades that contains and controls the working fluid.

CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Hydraulic Turbines
DEF

One of the vanes of a turbine rotor upon which the force of the steam or gas is exerted to cause rotation.

CONT

Hydro power is dependent upon the pressure exerted by a column of water, or head, directed against the rotor buckets, vanes or blades of a hydro turbine.

OBS

The original type of Pelton bucket may be seen in Fig. 76.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Turbines hydrauliques
DEF

[Voir illustration page 10470].

English

Subject field(s)
  • Motors (Machinery)
  • Oil Drilling
DEF

A turbodrill or Dyna-Drill.

CONT

When a downhole motor is used, it is attached to the lower end of the drill string; then the bit is attached to the bottom end of the downhole motor. The drilling motor rotates the bit, rather than the bit being rotated by the drill pipe string.
