Different Types of Air Separation Units(ASU). All Gaseous Product. On site gas generators are by far the most common type of ASU. These plants can produce oxygen only, oxygen and nitrogen or oxygen, nitrogen and argon or just nitrogen.... These units separate the air in liquid form... Gas generators typically produce between 10-2000 short tons of combined product. ;All Liquid Product.... All desired product is liquefied for shipment in cryogenic transport trailers or rail cars. Generally, these units make liquid oxygen(LOX), liquid nitrogen(LIN) and liquid argon(LAR), though in some oil/gas production areas there are large liquid nitrogen only ASUs.

A lumping method for estimating the properties or the behaviour of liquid and/or vapour hydrocarbon phases from data relative to a reference set consisting of hydrocarbon mixtures in a series of thermodynamic states resulting from determined conditions of production of an underground hydrocarbon reservoir, characterized in that it comprises :-grouping each one of said hydrocarbon mixtures into at least three constituents(V, I, H), none of these constituents corresponding to a particular selection of base components or pseudo-components that would be used for a detailed compositional description of the fluids, considering that the gas phases resulting from the separation under surface conditions of each one of the hydrocarbon mixtures are mixtures from which third constituent(H) is excluded, and that the oil phases resulting from the separation under surface conditions of each one of the hydrocarbon mixtures are mixtures from which first constituent(V) is excluded,-determining by material balance the compositions of the separation products comprising, for the gaseous products, at least the first and the second constituent(V, I) in variable proportions and, for the liquid products, at least the second and the third constituent(I, H) in variable proportions, and-determining the at least three-constituent composition of each hydrocarbon mixture of the reference set by combination of the products of the separation thereof in proportion to the amounts of each separation product.

Altering the composition of the gaseous environment which a food product contacts reduces the rate of microbiological growth and enzymatic action, reduces the rate of oxidation, and also retards the loss of product water content through respiration of differential water-vapor pressure.... Controlled atmosphere packaging(CAP) means actually controlling the total gaseous environment the product experiences. In commercial practice, it usually means lowering the oxygen and raising the CO2 and assuring that O2 does not diminish to extinction while the respiratory gases are swept out. Controlled atmosphere packaging implies constant control over all gases : O2, CO2, H2O, and ethylene and other trace gases.

In 1809 his important memoir on gaseous combination was published. In it he pointed out that when gases combine with one another they do so in the simplest proportions by volume, and that the volume of any gaseous product formed bears a simple ratio to that of the constituents. This is still called Gay-Lussac' s law. He was one of the discoverers of the fact that all gases have approximately the same coefficient of expansion(Charle's law).
