GATE RADAR [7 records]

Record 1 2018-11-30

English

Subject field(s)
  • Target Acquisition
  • Radar, Radio Guidance and Goniometry
CONT

The repeater, which consists of an amplifier and a programmable delay line, amplifies and delays the intercepted signal. By transmitting this signal back to the radar and gradually increasing the delay, the range gate in the radar tracking system can be captured and pulled away from the target echo, thereby producing range deception. This technique is usually referred to as range gate pull off(RGPO).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Acquisition d'objectif
  • Radar, radioguidage et radiogoniométrie
CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Military Equipment
  • Counter-Measures (Military operations)
  • Electronic Warfare
CONT

The conventional range gate stealer is a pulse-repeating countermeasure which is designed to deceive the range track servo of a remote or enemy tracking radar. This device receives the radar pulse, amplifies it, and retransmits it at the same frequency at higher power.

Record 3 2007-04-12

English

Subject field(s)
  • Radar, Radio Guidance and Goniometry
CONT

Radar transmissometers, however, like ungated continuous wave transmissometers still cannot discriminate against ground clutter or other significant reflections which occur within the range gate of the radar system.

Record 4 2002-08-28

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electronic Warfare
  • Counter-Measures (Military operations)
DEF

A self-screening ECM [electronic countermeasure] technique used against velocity tracking radars.

OBS

It captures the victim's radar velocity gate, walks it off in velocity, then turns OFF, leaving the velocity gate with no signal, causing a break in the velocity track. The process is repetitive.

Key term(s)
  • velocity gate pull off
  • velocity gate walk off

French

Domaine(s)
  • Guerre électronique
  • Contre-mesures (Opérations militaires)
OBS

Du point de vue du système brouillé on dit «dérive de porte de vitesse» et du point de vue du système brouilleur on dit «capture de porte de vitesse».

Record 5 1989-10-12

English

Subject field(s)
  • Radar, Radio Guidance and Goniometry
DEF

An element in a radar set which measures range and its time derivative; by means of the latter, a range gate is actuated slightly before the predicted instant of signal reception.

Record 7 1981-11-16

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aeroindustry
CONT

The radar is a Doppler MTI [moving target indicator] system with what is described as a "pretty low velocity gate" to enable slow-moving vehicles to be detected.

Key term(s)
  • velocity threshold

French

Domaine(s)
  • Constructions aéronautiques
CONT

Le radar Doppler à éliminateur d'échos fixes aurait un "seuil de détection de vitesse très bas", de façon à pouvoir détecter des véhicules se déplaçant très lentement.
