GATE TERMINAL [11 records]

Record 1 2021-12-09

English

Subject field(s)
  • Semiconductors (Electronics)
  • Electrical Engineering
CONT

In its most basic form, a thyristor has three terminals : anode(positive terminal), cathode(negative terminal), and gate(control terminal). The gate controls the flow of current between the anode and cathode.

Record 4 2000-08-28

English

Subject field(s)
  • Applications of Automation
  • Amplifiers (Electronics)
DEF

A circuit wherein the drain terminal of a transistor is placed at signal ground. The input signal is applied between gate and source terminals. The output signal is obtained from across the source resistor. This circuit is also known as the source follower circuit because the output phase of the signal follows that of the input signal.

DEF

A circuit wherein the gate terminal of an FET is placed at signal ground. The input signal is applied between the source and gate terminals and the output obtained from the drain section. There is no phase reversal between input and output signals. Another term for this system is the grounded gate circuit.

Record 6 1989-12-18

English

Subject field(s)
  • Semiconductors (Electronics)
OBS

In the insulated-gate FET structure a thin dielectric barrier is used to isolate the gate and the channel. The control voltage applied to the gate terminal induces an electric field across the dielectric barrier and modulates the free-carrier concentration in the channel region.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Semi-conducteurs (Électronique)
CONT

Si la tension de grille est inférieure à la tension d'inversion, dite tension de seuil, il y a entre source et drain une jonction P.N polarisée en inverse, qui bloque la conduction.

Subject field(s)
  • Air Terminals
  • Airfields
CONT

The satellite concept... consists of a building, surrounded by aircraft gate positions separated from the terminal and is reached by means of surface, underground, or above-ground connection. The aircraft are normally parked in radial or parallel positions around the satellite, which can have common or separate departure lounges. Since boarding and disembarkation of the aircraft is accomplished from a central area, mechanical systems may be employed to carry passengers and baggage between the terminal and satellite.

  • Air Terminals
  • Airfields
CONT

In the Linear concept... aircraft are parked on the apron at the face of the terminals in perpendicular, angled or parallel parked positions. An airside corridor may be located parallel to the terminal face nearest the apron, with access to the terminal and aircraft gate positions at intervals. The linear configuration can be either centralized or decentralized. Ease of access and relatively short walking distances for originating passengers can result if the passenger is delivered to a point at or near his gate of departure by a vehicular circulation system(road and/or transit), which becomes a more dominant element in this concept than in the other concepts. The terminal area will be fully decentralized by locating the departure lounges, ticketing and baggage areas at each aircraft gate position.

  • Aérogares
  • Aérodromes
CONT

Subject field(s)

DEF

A high speed device concept that relies on electrons traveling not within a layer but across its thickness. The switching speed of a transistor is limited by the time needed for an electron to traverse the device's middle terminal-the gate in a FET, the base in a bipolar device. Electrons lose speed as they travel because they bump into atoms and each other. By making the path short enough, the electron will sail from one side to the other like a projectile without a single collision. Such ballistic transport was first demonstrated last year at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Labs(Yorktown Heights, N. Y.).

OBS

MIRA 29.9.75 Financial Times of Canada.
