The Family Violence Prevention Program(FVPP) funds the operations of emergency shelters and transitional(second stage) housing to improve the safety and security of Indigenous women, children, families and 2SLGBTQI+ [Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and others] people across Canada, including in the North and in urban centres. FVPP also provides funding for community-driven service delivery projects for family violence prevention activities.

In response to the 231 calls for justice and the principles for change from the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, the establishment of the National Family and Survivors Circle(NFSC) was supported by Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs to provide guidance on how to engage families, survivors, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ [Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual and other] people in the development and implementation of a National Action Plan. The NFSC is composed of Indigenous women from diverse backgrounds.
