Sephadex is used in gel filtration. Gels in which the matrix is a minor component are used for fractionation of high molecular weight substances; denser gels are used for separation of low molecular weight compounds. Sephadex is available in eight porosities which provide the fractionation of globular proteins with molecular weights of up to 8 x 105 and linear polymers of up to 2 x 105. 2, record 1, English, - Sephadex%C2%AE

4, record 1, French, - S%C3%A9phadex

Enzyme immobilization method which involves the formation of a highly crosslinked network of a polymer in the presence of an enzyme. Enzyme molecules are physically entrapped within the polymer lattice and cannot permeate out of the gel matrix, but appropriately sized substrate and product molecules can transfer across and within this network to insure a continuous transformation. 2, record 2, English, - lattice%20entrapment
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Advantages of the lattice entrapment method for immobilizing an enzyme include its overall experimental simplicity, the need for only small amounts of an enzyme in order to produce a water-insoluble enzyme conjugate and the fact that it is a physical method.... Disadvantages of the method also exist.... The exact physical nature of the crosslinked polymers is often quite important for obtaining high activity.... A considerable disadvantage of this method is leakage of an enzyme from within the crosslinked polymeric network. 1, record 2, English, - lattice%20entrapment

1, record 4, French, - matrice%20hydrophile

Three families of repetitive sequences have been studied in most detail, including the 35-40 bp [base pair] repetitive extragenic palindromic(REP) sequence, the 124-127 bp enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus(ERIC) sequence, and the 154 bp BOX element. These sequences appear to be located in distinct, intergenic positions all around the chromosome. The repetitive elements may be present in both orientations on the chromosome, and PCR [polymerase chain reaction] primers have been designed to "read outward" from the inverted repeats in REP and ERIC, and from the boxA subunit of BOX. The use of the above primer(s) and PCR leads to the selective amplification of distinct genomic regions located between REP, ERIC or BOX sequences. The corresponding protocols are referred to as REP-PCR, ERIC-PCR and BOX-PCR, respectively, and rep-PCR collectively. Amplified bands are size fractionated through a gel matrix to yield fingerprint patterns resembling "bar codes", analogous to UPC codes used in grocery stores, and function as a signature for specific bacterial strains. 3, record 5, English, - BOX%2DPCR

Capillary gel electrophoresis(CGE) is the CE-analog of traditional slab-gel electrophoresis and is used for the size-based separation of biological macromolecules such as olgonucleotides, DNA restriction fragments and proteins. The separation is performed by filling the capillary with a sieve-like matrix, for example, cross-linked polyacrylamide, agarose or even solutions of linear polymer. The main advantages over slab-gel electrophoresis are a wider range of gel matrix and composition, online detection, improved quantification and automation. 1, record 9, English, - capillary%20gel%20electrophoresis
