GENE INTERACTION [7 records]

Record 1 2013-11-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
DEF

Interaction between two nonallelic genes so that one of them(epistatic gene) interferes with, or even inhibits, the phenotypic expression of the other(hypostatic gene).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
DEF

DEF

Any gene that by interaction affects the phenotypic expression of genes at other loci. According to the type of modifying action such genes may be classified into : enhancers or reducers.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Biochemistry
CONT

Chromosomes consist largely of nuclei acids and proteins, joined here as complexes called nucleoproteins.

CONT

Sequence-specific binding of DNA by proteins is often the first step in the assembly of regulatory complexes that control cellular processes such as the initiation of gene transcription. The second assembly step is the cooperative interaction of these DNA-bound proteins resulting in the formation of nucleo-protein complexes with highly specific biological activity.

Key term(s)
  • nuclear protein

Domaine(s)
  • Biochimie
DEF

Mutagenicity....(a) there is epidemiological evidence that shows a causal connection between exposure of person to the substance or mixture and heritable genetic effects; or(b) there is evidence of mutagenicity in mammalian germ cells in vivo as shown by(i) positive results in a study that measures mutation transmitted to offspring, or(ii) positive results in an in vivo study showing chemical interaction with the genetic materials of mammalian germ cells and positive results in an in vivo study assessing either gene mutation or chromosomal aberration in somatic cells.

CONT

The principle factor responsible for the transcriptional state of the c-fos proto-oncogene is the serum response factor(SRF) which binds a conserved DNA sequence called serum response element(SRE) present in the promoter region of the c-fos gene. In order to elucidate the molecular basis of this interaction, we have solved the crystal structure of a recombinant SRF-SRE complex(Nature, 376 : 490-298, 1995).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
CONT
