The Bcg/Ity/Lsh locus is a major gene controlling early phases of infection with intracellular parasites in mice. Natural resistance associated macrophage protein 1(Nramp1) has been shown to be the Bcg gene in mice. Analysis of a bovine cDNA homolog of murine Nramp1, designated as bovine NRAMP1, predicted a 548-amino-acid protein with hydrophobic domains, an amino-terminal SH3-binding domain, and a conserved consensus transport motif. Northern blotting indicated that bovine NRAMP1 was expressed primarily in macrophages and tissues of the recticuloendothelial system. 3, record 5, English, - natural%20resistance%20associated%20macrophage%20protein%201

Glial cells constitute the second component of the nervous system and are important during neuronal development. The gene described in this paper, glial cell deficient(glide) also known as glial cells missing, is necessary for glial cell fate commitment in Drosophila. Mutations at the glide locus prevent glial cell determination in the embryonic central and peripheral nervous systems. Moreover, the absence of glial cells is the consequence of a cell fate switch from glia to neurons. This suggests the existence of a multipotent precursor cells in the nervous system. glide mutants also display defects in axonal navigation, which confirms and extends previous results indicating a role for glial cells in these processes(Vincent, 1996). 2, record 10, English, - glial%20cells%20missing%20gene

1, record 10, French, - g%C3%A8ne%20carenc%C3%A9%20en%20cellules%20gliales

Chromogranin B(secretogranin I or Scg-1) is a tyrosine-sulfated secretory protein found in a wide variety of peptidergic endocrine cells. Benedum et al.(1987) isolated a 2. 5-kb cDNA clone from a cDNA library of human pheochromocytoma. Chromogranin B is a 657 amino acid long polypeptide of 76 kilodaltons and is preceded by a cleaved end-terminal signal peptide of 20 residues. Chromogranin B was assigned to chromosome 20 by Craig et al.(1986). Craig et al.(1987) showed by in situ hybridization that the CHGB locus is on 20pter-p12. Jenkins et al.(1991) mapped the murine gene, symbolized Scg-1, to chromosome 2 by in situ hybridization and by interspecific backcross analysis. 2, record 11, English, - chromogranin%20B
