Halterm Limited operates Canada's largest Atlantic coast container terminal on a 70-acre site in the Port of Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 1969, Halterm opened the first container terminal in Halifax, one of the first on North America's East Coast. Built at a cost of $15 million, Halterm was an investment in the door-to-door movement to general cargo. Over the years, Halterm developed into one of the first common-user facilities in North America. Halterm has since become a cornerstone of the Port of Halifax.
