Record 10 1988-06-16

English

Subject field(s)
  • Waste Management
CONT

In general, ship garbage resembles average municipal garbage. When it is generated near shore or in port it must be put ashore into dock-side reception facilities. When at sea, food wastes and other biodegradables may be "discharged" overboard under controlled conditions, but plastics... must be put ashore, no matter where they are generated. One type of waste presents a classification problem, namely dry bulk cargo residues such as grains, fertilizers, ores and others.

OBS

"Residue" is usually used in the plural.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Gestion des déchets
CONT
