The concept of the right to erasure comes from the General Data Protection Regulation(GDPR), which is frequently referred to as the benchmark legislation for data protection around the world. Effective as of 2018, the GDPR grants several rights to data subjects, including in article 17, a right to obtain the erasure, as soon as possible, of personal data that a business holds about them... 3, record 1, English, - right%20to%20erasure

Traditionally part of the military jargon, TTPs are a key concept in cybersecurity and describe how cyber-attackers orchestrate, execute and manage operational attacks. "Tactics" define what a cyber-attacker's goal is, and the general strategies used to gain access to an organization's systems and information(e. g., social engineering or physical infiltration) ;"techniques" explain how the cyber-attack is conducted(e. g., phishing users via email attachments) ;and "procedures" are a step-by-step orchestration of the attack, and often the best way to build an attacker's profile. 1, record 2, English, - tactics%2C%20techniques%20and%20procedures

2, record 2, French, - tactiques%2C%20techniques%20et%20proc%C3%A9dures

Although the terms "members of visible minorities" and "visible minorities" are used in legal and statistical contexts in Canada, they are considered outdated and can be inaccurate in a general context as they do not always reflect provincial, territorial or other regional demographic compositions in Canada. Also, the word "visible" suggests that being white is the standard and the word "minority" limits the concept to numbers, when it is in fact more often about the power that is held by a dominant group. 2, record 7, English, - members%20of%20visible%20minorities

4, record 7, French, - minorit%C3%A9s%20visibles

Related to the concept of an "ultimate" limit to length of life is the idea of compression of mortality. This term is invoked(e. g., Fries, 1980) to describe a population in which the proportion of people surviving to advanced ages begins to approach what is assumed to be a biologically(presumably genetic) predetermined age limit to human survival. At this limit, the survival curve "rectangularizes", although a mathematically precise formulation of what constitutes rectangularization is not yet available. There are, however, a general set of order relations for different types of "survival curves" that we can use graphically to illustrate rectangularization. 1, record 25, English, - rectangularization

The terms photoelectric cell and photocell are popularly used to designate what, in fact, are phototubes. This is to be discouraged, since, in some contexts, a phototube may be considered as but one type of photoelectric cell, while, in others, phototubes are entirely excluded from the concept of photoelectric cells. 3, record 30, English, - phototube

electric eye : This term is probably more often used as a synonym of a more general concept of photoelectric cell(including photoconductive devices). It is a popular and imprecise term, and using it with reference to phototubes would therefore seem inadvisable. One of the first important studies on the specificity of enzymes was carried out by Emil Fischer, who found that enzymes capable of hydrolyzing glycosides can distinguish between their stereoisomeric forms. In 1894 this observation led him to enunciate the principle that the substrate molecule fits the active site of the enzyme in a... lock-and-key relationship.... Nowadays, the modified concept of transition state stabilization is gaining favor. According to this idea, it is not that the substrate is distorted but rather that the transition state makes better contacts with the enzyme than the substrate does, so that the full binding energy is not realized until the transition state is reached. Nevertheless, we shall use the term strain to cover the general situation on enzyme-transition state complementary. 3, record 33, English, - lock%2Dand%2Dkey%20relationship

Tulving introduced the concept of episodic memory in 1972, contrasting it with semantic memory. Episodic memory was assumed to refer to the capacity to recollect individual events, its essence being the capacity to represent a specific event located in time and place. Semantic memory, on the other hand, was assumed to correspond to general facts about the world, with no reference to spatial and temporal context. 3, record 35, English, - episodic%20memory

3, record 35, French, - m%C3%A9moire%20%C3%A9pisodique

The Federal Office of Regional Development(Quebec)(FORD-Q), the Biotechnology Research Institute(BRI) of the National Research Council(NRC), and the City of Montreal are today announcing a major investment, the first step toward the creation in Montreal of a research, development and demonstration centre, the first of its kind in Canada for the environmental technologies sector involved with industrial site remediation. This sector represents a market that is growing rapidly worldwide. The Montreal Centre of Excellence for Environmental Site Remediation fits perfectly into the concept of "technological platforms, "the approach favoured by Environment Canada to stimulate Metropolitan Montreal' s economy. Technological platforms make it possible to test environmental technologies and promote them to potential clients. This concept also contributes to furthering the economic growth of the environmental industry in the context of sustainable development. The Centre's mission will be to contribute to the development of effective and economical expertise in the area of restoring contaminated urban sites, which are a serious obstacle to economic development for cities in general and for Metropolitan Montreal in particular. It will also encourage the transfer of proven technologies to the private sector and the development of collaborative research projects and strategic alliances. 1, record 36, English, - Montreal%20Centre%20of%20Excellence%20for%20Environmental%20Site%20Remediation

1, record 36, French, - Centre%20d%27excellence%20en%20r%C3%A9habilitation%20de%20sites%20de%20Montr%C3%A9al

Example-driven Learning. Alternatively, students can be presented with tutorial demonstrations for solving example problems by simply asking the system to reason out loud about a given circuit using its present, qualitative, causal mode. Students can thus hear explanations of how to solve each type of problem in the series, followed by opportunities to solve similar problems. Since the focus is on presenting examples together with explanations prior to practice in problem solving, we term this learning strategy "example-driven". 2, record 45, English, - learning%20by%20examples

The International Ocean Institute has the honour to announce the "Arvid Pardo Award" for Research on the Concept of the Common Heritage". This Award was created by the Institute in 1992 and first awarded in 1997. Through this award the International Ocean Institute wishes to pay tribute to Arvid Pardo, the father of the contemporary Law of the Sea, the inspirer of the pacem in Maribus Conferences and the International Ocean Institute. It was the global vision, knowledge and intellectual integrity of Arvid Pardo, together with his lucid presentation of the proposals in 1967, that convinced the United Nations General Assembly to convene the Third United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea. Special tribute must be paid to Arvid Pardo for his imagination and clear justification of the principle of the Common Heritage of Mankind in his presentations to the General Assembly and subsequently during the initial considerations thereof. 2, record 54, English, - %5C%22Arvid%20Pardo%20Award%5C%22%20for%20Research%20on%20the%20Concept%20of%20the%20Common%20Heritage

Ethical consumption, also known as socially responsible consumption, is a trend where consumers ask questions about the company that produced the goods -- choosing to patronize the companies which have "positive" profiles and avoiding those with "negative" profiles. 3, record 55, English, - ethical%20consumption

The very name of "ethical consumption" is still an open issue, and varies from ethical consumption to consumption in solidarity, responsible consumption, and fair consumption.... The idea of "ethical consumption" should initially be based on a definition of ethics. For those who understand the concept of Ethics as the definition of criteria to identify Good and Evil, it is important for the concept of Ethical Consumption to include another idea of consumption that is not based on individualism. The word that best defines this relationship with the rest of the world is "solidarity. "It qualifies it and defines the importance of others in the ethical values on which consumption is based. In this case we are talking about "ethical consumption in solidarity. "There is also a simplified version called "consumption in solidarity", which appears in the literature referring to consumption that not only considers our personal welfare but also considers general welfare. This is a consumption in which production is completed, generating an impact on the ecosystem and society in general. Under this idea, the choice of type of consumption can benefit or hinder the creation or maintenance of the productive jobs in a specific society, the preservation of ecosystems and the promotion of the general welfare of communities, countries and the entire planet. "Responsible consumption"(an expression used in Europe, particularly in France), appears where there is an awareness of the power of consumers, which become economic units with an important role to play, just as important as businesses and market regulatory boards. It implies an idea of economy that wishes to provide answers to citizens who belong to an economic and political world that considers man as a mere consumer. In this respect, consuming in a different way represents paying attention to what the money that we give to buy goods and services is financing, thus bringing economic pressure to bear from below that compensates 4, record 55, English, - ethical%20consumption

Fabric Forms for Pile Jacketing.... All piles in a marine environment suffer deterioration at varying rates.... General Methods of Repair. The methods used for rehabilitation of piles are varied and constantly increasing in number.... In the 1960s a technique was developed that utilizes construction fabrics as a concrete-forming system. Basically this concept uses as a concrete from a jacket of woven nylon fabric, each end of which is connected by a heavy industrial zipper sewn onto the fabric. The ends of the fabric above and below the deterioriated pile zone are banded to the pile. These fabric forms have proven economic advantages over other concrete forming systems because of their light weight, ease of intallation, relatively low fabric cost, and ease of connection onto the piles at any location above the mudline. 3, record 60, English, - fabric%20form

The concept of immunologic surveillance was proposed as a paradigm by Burnet3 in 1970 to explain the spontaneous growth of cancer in a normal host. He proposed that the immune system had the capacity of detecting non-self from self as a general principle. When non-self was detected, the immune systems reacted with a variety of effectors, whose responsibility was to destroy the invading organisms. This understanding was found to be essentially correct when applied to invading organisms such as bacteria, pleuropneumonia-like organisms and viruses. The major cell type of the immune system whose responsibility it was to make the self-nonself determination were T cells.

1, record 65, French, - inflation%20g%C3%A9n%C3%A9rale

NDHQ 97 is the largest accommodation project ever undertaken by the Department of National Defence or the government. It's more than just moving people from building to building. It's refitting buildings and general office space, using a new design concept called the universal footprint. It's adapting accommodation to re-engineered organizations. It's also purchasing and installing furniture best suited to a modern, dynamic organization. The headquarters will have a new look. In the four buildings... corridors will run along the windows. Offices will be clustered at the centre of each floor. Major traffic will flow outside work areas, not through them. People working in teams will have work areas designed for teams. Offices will have more natural light, better air conditioning and better ventilation. Some screens will have glazed windows to allow natural light to spill through. Each workstation will include large, well-lit work surfaces for computers and overall, will have more usable workspace. Plenty of storage space will be located above and below work surfaces. But employees will be encouraged to make the most of their space by storing information on diskette, rather than in filing cabinets. The look will be cleaner and less cluttered. And whether people are tall or short, they’ll be able to adjust their desks, chairs and computers to the height that's right for them. 3, record 70, English, - universal%20footprint

4, record 70, French, - plan%20universel

Given that students using automated learning environments tend to need assistance, another contribution of AI is the design of intelligent coaching systems that enhance the learning process by turning critical experiences into learning opportunities. WEST was the first system in this class. It has contributed the concept of differential modeling and that of teaching via issues and examples, whereby the coach detects the relevance of issues and illustrates them with an appropriate example. In addition, a number of general coaching principles followed in the design of WEST have been outlined. Not least among the system's contributions is its success in a short period of classroom use, which revealed that children both improved their learning and enjoyed being coached. 2, record 72, English, - intelligent%20coaching%20system

Just as the cell doctrine has proved central in biology, and germ theory is pivotal in the area of disease, so the concept of physical symbol system is deemed by Simon and Newell and their colleagues at Carnegie-Mellon as the core doctrine in the area of computer science. Proceeding in Boolean spirit, the job of the theorist is to identify that set of processes which operates on symbolic expressions in order to produce other expressions that create, modify, reproduce, and/or transform symbolic structures. A physical symbol system is necessary and sufficient to carry out intelligent actions; and, conversely, any system that exhibits general intelligence will prove upon analysis to be a physical symbol system. Such a system consists of a control, a memory, a set of operations, and input and output : its input consists of objects in certain locations; its processes are operations upon the input; its output is the modification or re-creation of objects in certain locations. 1, record 79, English, - physical%20symbol%20system

1, record 79, French, - syst%C3%A8me%20de%20symboles%20physiques

SMITHTOWN(Shute an Glaser, 1986; Shute and Bonar, 1986) is a system for teaching economics, which combines a microworld for exploratory learning with a(bite-sized tutoring module.) The student is presented with a simulated town; she can vary parameters such as the supply or the price of certain goods to study the modifications induced in other parameters. Figure 7. 11 shows a snapshot of SMITHTOWN's "notebook" facility, which allows the student to record her experiments. The system implements two simultaneous pedagogical intentions : teaching principles of economics and teaching general investigative behaviors. Bites at the economics level monitor which laws the student is discovering, supplying the name of the new concept when she makes a relevant hypothesis. If the student flounders excessively, the system can become more directive and suggest experiments according to a curriculum that organizes the(domain bites). Bites for investigative behaviors monitor various skills of scientific inquiry such as the ability to collect and record data in a systematic way. At this level, the system acts as a coach, but it does not address inquiry skills directly, since these bites constitute a sort of(metacurriculum). 1, record 81, English, - bite%2Dsized%20tutoring%20module
