The Need for Higher-Level Knowledge.... Our current state of knowledge about causal and teleological reasoning is of insufficient depth to permit their inclusion in the expert in a general way. Instead, we summarize the results of such reasoning and use these to make deductions. This new knowledge, unlike the propagator, is circuit-specific... There are two principles we employ to encode this circuit-specific knowledge. First, we impose a strict discipline upon its form, making addition, modification and explanation of higher-level knowledge easier. Second, the propagator and its underlying mechanisms for handling assumptions and fault modes are used as a way of simplifying the deductions that the higher-level knowledge needs to make. 1, record 13, English, - higher%2Dlevel%20knowledge

1, record 13, French, - connaissances%20de%20plus%20haut%20niveau

This is the more general and common set of terms used to describe the relationships referred to as Context-Parameter-Value Triplets in EMYCIN. An object is an actual or conceptual entity in the domain of the consultant(e. g., an oil well). Attributes are properties associated with objects(e. g., location, depth, productivity). Each attribute can take different values(e. g., the attribute depth could take on any numerical value from 0 to 60, 000 feet). 4, record 14, English, - object%2Dattribute%2Dvalue%20triplet

The drilling, charging, and firing of several rows of vertical holes along a quarry or opencast face. The holes may be spaced in the square pattern with delay detonators in the rows as well as row by row. The spacing of the holes will vary according to their depth, diameter, and the type of rock. In general, 6-inch-diameter holes, 30 to 70 feet deep may be spaced 14 to 20 feet apart, and 9-inch-diameter holes 20 to 25 feet apart.
