In conveyances, mortgages and many other assurances of corporeal hereditaments, numerous words descriptive, not only of every kind of easement, privilege or appurtenance, supposed to be capable of belonging to the property assured, but also of portions of the soil, fixtures and produce of the land(as timber) were, prior to the "Conveyancing Act, "1881, added to the parcels or description of the property, and were called the "general words. "They were useful when there were any easements or privileges reputed to belong to the property, although not legally appurtenant to it, as they would not have passed with the property unless expressly mentioned. But with this exception the "general words" were as a rule unnecessary verbiage. [Jowitt, 2nd ed., 1977, p. 856]. 1, record 10, English, - general%20words

In a deed, the description is normally divided into two parts : the general and the specific descriptions. The general description usually identifies the parcel in question by location, name, or reference to previous known owners. It leads into the specific description with the phrase "more particularly described as follows, "or by reference to public maps, plats, or other recorded information. The specific description exactly defines the limits of the property involved.(Reilly, 2nd ed., 1982, p. 138) 1, record 12, English, - general%20description

The BSU [i. e. the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit] has pioneered a system of criminal investigation known as Profiling, [which draws] on a combination of field experience and psychiatric knowledge to develop a loose but directed description of a possible killer. Each serial killer has an idiosyncratic pattern, a systematic way of going about the selection, pursuit, killing and disposal of his victims. Each of his victims will show characteristic damage, or be placed in a ritual manner, or taken from a social group, such as prostitutes or nurses or hitchhikers, having special significance to the killer. No two are exactly alike, but serial killers in general conform to a limited number of types. 2, record 15, English, - profiling

Established in 1959 by the Massey Foundation, The Massey Medal is awarded annually by the Society. Its purpose is to recognize outstanding personal achievement in the exploration, development or description of the geography of Canada. Eligibility is restricted to Canadian citizens, although in special circumstances, the Medal may be awarded to a non-Canadian, subject to agreement by the Massey Foundation. It is always awarded to an individual, never a group. The presentation of the Massey Medal is usually made at Rideau Hall by the Society's Patron, the Governor General, when His Excellency's schedule permits. Example-driven Learning. Alternatively, students can be presented with tutorial demonstrations for solving example problems by simply asking the system to reason out loud about a given circuit using its present, qualitative, causal mode. Students can thus hear explanations of how to solve each type of problem in the series, followed by opportunities to solve similar problems. Since the focus is on presenting examples together with explanations prior to practice in problem solving, we term this learning strategy "example-driven". 2, record 26, English, - learning%20by%20examples

Collins’ set of tutorial rules was used to construct an experimental Socratic tutoring system for rainfall processes called WHY(Stevens and Collins, 1977). In this system, the domain knowledge is no longer contained in a semantic net, which would not be very fit for the representation of processes. Instead, the knowledge about rainfall is stored in a hierarchy of scripts that represent stereotypical sequences of events. These fixed sequences are to capture both the temporal and the causal relations between events in a way that is easily amenable to inspection. The generation of questions and the evaluation of the student's answers are based on these scripts. The nested nature of the script hierarchy provides an organized view of the knowledge, with more general scripts giving overall sequences of events and more detailed scripts accounting for intermediate causal chains relating these events. The system can exploit this hierarchy to cover the subject starting from a general understanding and moving toward a more and more detailed description of the process. 1, record 54, English, - Socratic%20tutoring%20system

1, record 67, French, - %C3%A9tat%20de%20contrainte
