The general term in english is "console", and it processes much the same meaning as that given under (a) above. When used in the custom car context, it is usually modified with one of a number of adjectives as indicated above, to define where in the interior of the car it is fitted: centre console, radio console, tunnel cover, roof console.

"Tunnel cover" is the term for that part of a centre console which extends into the rear seat area of the providing a more aesthetic effect. The term console is widely used throughout the car world, eg (Car Mechanics, Nov. 1979) "... extra panelling. Such as a centre console. Door armrests, and dashboard extensions. "And" ... you may wish to fit ... a ready-made centre console".

Some extra comments should be added with respect to waste dangerous goods. The TDG Regulations deal with three types of waste as dangerous goods. The first is those dangerous goods which have "served their purpose" and are now a waste, but retain sufficient danger that they are a dangerous good. These are referred to as waste dangerous goods and, in general, their shipping name is as it was before, with the word waste placed in front. Thus "nitric acid" becomes "waste nitric acid".

Threads are designated by standardized notes. Under the unified system, threads are specified by giving in order the nominal diameter, number of threads per inch, the initial letters such as UNC or UNF that identify the series, and class of thread (1A, 2A, and 3A or 1B, 2B, and 3B). Threads are considered to be right-hand and single unless otherwise noted; therefore the specification for a left-hand thread must have the letters LH included.
