Most exposure to fluoride for the general population comes from drinking water, beverages and foods prepared from drinking water, and dental products. Fluorides can also be present to a lesser extent in the atmosphere and soil. An allocation factor is a number that represents the proportion of total exposure to fluoride that can be attributed to drinking water for the most sensitive subpopulation. It is used to inform the calculation of the health-based value, which is the numerical value at which health effects could be observed. 1, record 1, English, - allocation%20factor

This factor goes far to explain the erstwhile reluctance to expose occupiers to the discipline of a general duty of care....(However) the mere fact that the defendant happens to be an occupier does not mean his duties are necessarily and exclusively defined by his "occupancy" duties : they may well be augmented by a general duty of care as the result of some additional factor colouring his relationship to the plaintiff... 1, record 3, English, - general%20duty%20of%20care

In clinical investigations, a bias is any systematic factor other than the intervention of interest that affects the magnitude of (i.e. tends to increase or decrease) an observed difference in the outcomes of a treatment group and a control group. Bias diminishes the accuracy (though not necessarily the precision) of an observation. Randomization is a technique used to decrease this form of bias. Bias also refers to a prejudiced or partial viewpoint that would affect someone’s interpretation of a problem. Double blinding is a technique used to decrease this type of bias. 1, record 4, English, - bias

1, record 4, French, - biais

In English law, a promise is not, as a general rule, binding as a contract unless it is either made under seal or supported by some "consideration". The purpose of the doctrine of consideration is to put some legal limit on the enforceability of agreements even where they are intended to be legally binding and are not vitiated by some factor such as mistake, misrepresentation, duress or illegality.... The present position therefore is that English law limits the enforceability of agreements not under seal by reference to a complex and multifarious body of rules known as "the doctrine of consideration. The Centre national d’études spatiales(CNES) is developing an atomic clock of unequaled precision, which will be launched in 2003 aboard the International Space Station(ISS). The PHARAO clock(Cooled Atom In-Orbit Atomic Clock Project)... uses cooled cesium atoms in order to reach an accuracy and stability 10 to 100 times higher than any other high-performance existing calibrating clocks. The Cesium atoms are thrown on a free flight in a cavity enabling interaction with a radio-frequency field. They then transfer their intrinsic accuracy and stability qualities to the piezoelectric oscillator. The lack of gravity increases the time in which the atoms interact with the piezoelectric oscillator, which then increases the resolution and accuracy of the clock by a 10 factor. PHARAO will belong to ESA's ACES(Atomic Clock Ensemble in Space) payload within the frame of one of its ISS program. The ACES mission will be divided in two parts. The first one, which should last six months, will mostly focus on the PHARAO clock performance. The second part of the mission will last 12 months and will allow the international scientific community to use the clock for specific experiments(clocks’ synchronization, General Relativity tests, geodesy, etc.). 2, record 8, English, - ACES%20mission

1, record 14, French, - courbe%20pointill%C3%A9e%20de%20la%20moyenne%20mobile

The drilling, charging, and firing of several rows of vertical holes along a quarry or opencast face. The holes may be spaced in the square pattern with delay detonators in the rows as well as row by row. The spacing of the holes will vary according to their depth, diameter, and the type of rock. In general, 6-inch-diameter holes, 30 to 70 feet deep may be spaced 14 to 20 feet apart, and 9-inch-diameter holes 20 to 25 feet apart. The explosive factor may vary from 0. 5 to 1. 25 pounds per cubic yard(solid) of rock. 2, record 15, English, - multiple%2Drow%20blasting

1, record 15, French, - tir%20en%20plusieurs%20rang%C3%A9es

Unified and American National screw thread standards for screws, bolts, nuts, and other threaded parts consist of six series of threads and a selection of special threads that cover nonstandard combinations of diameter and pitch. In general the unified screw threads are limited to three series : coarse(UNC), fine(UNF), and extrafine(UNEF). A 1/4-inch-diameter thread in the UNC series has 20 threads/in., while in the UNF series it has 28... The fine thread series(UNF and NF) is recommended for general use in the automotive and air craft fields for threads subject to strong vibration. In general, a fine thread should be used only where close adjustment, extra strength, or increased resistance to loosening is a factor. 3, record 16, English, - National%20Fine%20screw%20thread

Threads are designated by standardized notes. Under the unified system, threads are specified by giving in order the nominal diameter, number of threads per inch, the initial letters such as UNC or UNF that identify the series, and class of thread (1A, 2A, and 3A or 1B, 2B, and 3B). Threads are considered to be right-hand and single unless otherwise noted; therefore the specification for a left-hand thread must have the letters LH included. 2, record 17, English, - Unified%20National%20Fine%20screw%20thread

Norme BS 1580 : 1953 "Unified Screw Threads". 2, record 17, French, - filetage%20unifi%C3%A9%20%C3%A0%20pas%20fin%20UNF
