The Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries(CADSI) has its roots in the creation of the Canadian chapter of the American Defense Preparedness Association(ADPA) on November 30, 1983. The organisation's founding mission was to be patriotic, educational, scientific, and non-political. As a non-profit making membership society, it was dedicated to scientific, engineering, industrial, and management preparedness for the common defence of Canada. The organisation believed these attributes to be the strongest guarantees of national security and peace. In 1987, the chapter became an independent association under the name Canadian Defence Preparedness Association(CDPA). On November 25, 1997, CDPA's Board of Directors voted to change the name of the association to the Canadian Defence Industries Association(CDIA). The organisation operated under this new name until the Association's Annual General Meeting in December, 2005, when the Board of Directors resolved to widen the scope of the organisation's representation and mandate in light of the increasingly integrated nature of the national defence and public security of Canada. At the December 6, 2005 Annual General Meeting, with the will of the members, the Canadian Defence Industries Association changed its name to the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries(CADSI). 1, record 15, English, - Canadian%20Association%20of%20Defence%20and%20Security%20Industries

6, record 15, French, - Association%20des%20industries%20canadiennes%20de%20d%C3%A9fense%20et%20de%20s%C3%A9curit%C3%A9

World exposition sanctioned by the International Bureau of Expositions, held in Vancouver 2 May-30 Oct. 1986. The theme, Transportation and Communication, celebrated the centenaires of the founding of Vancouver and the arrival on the Pacific coast of the first passenger train. Fifty-four governments and industries from six continents participated and there were over 22 million individual visits to the site. The commissioner general was Patrick Reid. Located along Vancouver's inner-city waterway, the 70 hectare site featured over 80 pavilions and many indoor and outdoor performance venues, including the Xerox International Theatre, a 1500-seat outdoor amphitheatre; The Big House, a 400-seat theatre of longhouse design; The Barn, a 300-seat proscenium theatre; and the Street of the Expo site on which a street festival took place throughout the exposition's run. The Canadian Pavilion, separate from the main site accessible to visitors by a four--minute ride on Vancouver's new Advanced Light Rapid Transit system, housed five performance spaces including a 500-seat outdoor amphitheatre, the 380-seat Amiga Studio(the exhibition's only enclosed theatre), and the 350-seat Inner Stage. 1, record 24, English, - Expo%2086

The object of this unit and its associated field project is to combine the advanced training of teachers with fundamental and applied research, and to do both in the light of a continuing study of a given culture. It is hoped that the unit will produce a small but steady flow of highly trained educators each year, who will be able practically to apply the findings of psychological research to the educational needs of their own countries. ’ 1, record 29, English, - International%20Institute%20of%20Child%20Study

Corduroy, on the other hand, soaks up moisture too easily and is not very durable. Wool will remain warm even when drenched and is the best answer for outdoor wear. You may consider lederhosen, leather pants imported from the Alps. The knicker length variety, though expensive, are a good investment because rocks will not tear them. Non-waterproof nylon wind pants are useful to wear over other trousers in windy, frigid areas and when climbing extensively above timberline. Wind pants should be loose-fitting and have a drawstring around the ankles to prevent wind from blowing up the legs. Rain pants in waterproof fabric are of some value in wet, brushy areas, but in general the lack of ventilation makes these pants unsatisfactory. A light pair of cotton pants may be used as extras for hot weather, but are no substitute for wool pants in cold weather. 7, record 32, English, - climbing%20pants

The most celebrated case was Stockholm, where the famous 1952 General Plan of Sven Markelius and Göran Sidenbladh developed systematic pyramids of density around the stations, and also provided service and other jobs in district centres around these same stations, with the idea that as many as one third would find jobs in the places where they lived(Hall 1992a; Hall 1997). 2, record 41, English, - finger%20pal

Fabric Forms for Pile Jacketing.... All piles in a marine environment suffer deterioration at varying rates.... General Methods of Repair. The methods used for rehabilitation of piles are varied and constantly increasing in number.... In the 1960s a technique was developed that utilizes construction fabrics as a concrete-forming system. Basically this concept uses as a concrete from a jacket of woven nylon fabric, each end of which is connected by a heavy industrial zipper sewn onto the fabric. The ends of the fabric above and below the deterioriated pile zone are banded to the pile. These fabric forms have proven economic advantages over other concrete forming systems because of their light weight, ease of intallation, relatively low fabric cost, and ease of connection onto the piles at any location above the mudline. 3, record 56, English, - fabric%20form

NDHQ 97 is the largest accommodation project ever undertaken by the Department of National Defence or the government. It's more than just moving people from building to building. It's refitting buildings and general office space, using a new design concept called the universal footprint. It's adapting accommodation to re-engineered organizations. It's also purchasing and installing furniture best suited to a modern, dynamic organization. The headquarters will have a new look. In the four buildings... corridors will run along the windows. Offices will be clustered at the centre of each floor. Major traffic will flow outside work areas, not through them. People working in teams will have work areas designed for teams. Offices will have more natural light, better air conditioning and better ventilation. Some screens will have glazed windows to allow natural light to spill through. Each workstation will include large, well-lit work surfaces for computers and overall, will have more usable workspace. Plenty of storage space will be located above and below work surfaces. But employees will be encouraged to make the most of their space by storing information on diskette, rather than in filing cabinets. The look will be cleaner and less cluttered. And whether people are tall or short, they’ll be able to adjust their desks, chairs and computers to the height that's right for them. 3, record 60, English, - universal%20footprint

4, record 60, French, - plan%20universel

This action will limit projected status-quo increases in NOx emissions and hence reduce the contribution of LDV's [light duty vehicles] to acid precipitation; it should also lead to a general improvement in ambient air quality in and around urban centres and to decreasing the LDV contribution to ambient ozone concentration and to regional ozone episodes. 1, record 70, English, - regional%20ozone%20episode

The general thrust of the new ICAO draft is to establish a threshold of 60 minutes’ flying time at single-engine speed from an alternate, beyond which twins may not operate unless they have demonstrated a certain standard of powerplant reliability and systems redundancy. Existing rules date from the late 1940s and are recognised to be outmoded in the light of current technology. ICAO's provision does not specifically mention turns, but has the effect of preventing them from operating more than 90 minutes’ flying time(with both engines operating) from an alternate-the so-called "90-minute rule". 1, record 71, English, - 90%2Dminute%20rule
