Most exposure to fluoride for the general population comes from drinking water, beverages and foods prepared from drinking water, and dental products. Fluorides can also be present to a lesser extent in the atmosphere and soil. An allocation factor is a number that represents the proportion of total exposure to fluoride that can be attributed to drinking water for the most sensitive subpopulation. The air quality health index or "AQHI" is a scale designed to help you understand what the air quality around you means to your health.... The AQHI communicates four primary things : 1. A number from 1 and 10+ indicating the quality of the air. The higher the number, the greater the health risk associated with the air quality. When the amount of air pollution is very high, the number will be reported as 10+. 2. A category that describes the level of health risk associated with the index reading(e. g. Low, Moderate, High, or Very High Health Risk). 3. Health messages customized to each category for both the general population and the ’at risk’ population. 4. 4. In China, from ancient times to the present, from official government business to private affairs, no matter how important or trivial, your chop affixes your credit and your promise. After signing your name, your chop is still required for a document to be legally binding. Name chops are used by Chinese calligraphers and painters. Artists follow the custom of stamping their works with the name chops to "sign" them and as proof of authenticity. Name chops are engraved by hand. It combines the beauty of written characters and line drawings. The most common materials for making chops are copper for the general population, and jade, for the emperor and nobility. 1, record 25, English, - chop%20engraving

The Children's Oral Health Initiative(COHI) was developed as a means to address the disparity between the oral health of First Nations and Inuit and that of the general Canadian population. COHI was launched on a test basis in Fall 2004. COHI focuses on the prevention of dental disease and promotion of good oral health practices. The goal of COHI is to shift the emphasis from a primarily treatment based approach to a more balanced prevention and treatment focus. The initial focus for oral health promotion will be directed at three target groups : pregnant women and primary caregivers; pre-school children, 0-4 years of age; and school children, 5-7 years of age. Health Canada expects that the COHI, once fully implemented in subsequent years, will result in significant improvement of the oral health in First Nations and Inuit. 1, record 27, English, - Children%27s%20Oral%20Health%20Initiative

The discovery that bacteria are able to communicate with each other changed our general perception of many single, simple organisms inhabiting our world. Instead of language, bacteria use signalling molecules which are released into the environment. As well as releasing the signalling molecules, bacteria are also able to measure the number(concentration) of the molecules within a population. Nowadays we use the term ’Quorum Sensing’(QS) to describe the phenomenon whereby the accumulation of signalling molecules enable a single cell to sense the number of bacteria(cell density). In the natural environment, there are many different bacteria living together which use various classes of signalling molecules. As they employ different languages they cannot necessarily talk to all other bacteria. 2, record 33, English, - quorum%20sensing

Alberta produced a report that provides a snapshot of the status of more than 2800 wild species in the province, entitled The General Status of Alberta Wild Species 2005. The report contains assessments for 2811 species under 10 categories : birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, fish, butterflies, gastropods(e. g., snails), bivalves(e. g., clams), odonates(e. g., dragonflies) and vascular plants(e. g., wild roses). These assessments are based on criteria that include species’ population size, distribution and trends, and threats to habitats. Assessment information is categorized into meaningful groupings, which helps the province identify species that need attention. Species’ status data are used by provincial wildlife and fisheries biologists to plan and set priorities for species’ management activities. These activities may include identifying habitat, monitoring survival and identifying threats. 1, record 44, English, - The%20General%20Status%20of%20Alberta%20Wild%20Species%202005

Related to the concept of an "ultimate" limit to length of life is the idea of compression of mortality. This term is invoked(e. g., Fries, 1980) to describe a population in which the proportion of people surviving to advanced ages begins to approach what is assumed to be a biologically(presumably genetic) predetermined age limit to human survival. At this limit, the survival curve "rectangularizes", although a mathematically precise formulation of what constitutes rectangularization is not yet available. There are, however, a general set of order relations for different types of "survival curves" that we can use graphically to illustrate rectangularization. 1, record 45, English, - rectangularization

The results of epidemiological studies obviously depend on the comparisons made between the cases and control groups used. If the groups are not well matched, the results will not be meaningful. For this reason cases and control groups may be matched for age, sex and race, as well as lifestyle factors like smoking and alcohol consumption. Occupational groups very often have lower total mortality than the general population as the latter includes people unable to work due to illness or disability. In other words, any group of workers is likely to be more healthy than the population as a whole, a phenomenon known as the "healthy worker effect.

The general principles of plant community succession, applied to the species complex in the wetlands and the expected changes in the moisture regime, could be used to predict the future plant community within specified time and space boundaries. Predicting, in any rigorous sense, the effects of the resulting habitat changes on species of concern would be difficult due to the complexity of most species-habitat interactions. Furthermore, it would be unlikely that the effects of the loss of habitat on the longer-term population dynamics of such species could be determined beforehand. 1, record 76, English, - moisture%20regime
