"delivered ex ship" means that the seller delivers when the goods are placed at the disposal of the buyer on board the ship not cleared for import at the named port of destination. The seller has to bear all the costs and risks involved in bringing the goods to named port of destination before discharging the goods. If the parties wish the seller to bear the costs and risks of discharging the goods, then the DEQ term should be used. "free alongside ship" means that the seller delivers when the goods are placed alongside the vessel at the named port of shipment. This means that the buyer has to bear all costs and risks of loss of or damage to the goods from that moment. The FAS term requires the seller to clear for export. This is a reversal from previous Incoterms versions which required the buyer to arrange for export clearance. However, if the parties wish the buyer to clear the goods for export, this should be made clear by adding explicit wording to this effect in the contract of sale. This term can be used only for sea or inland waterway transport. 4, record 19, English, - free%20alongside%20ship

4, record 19, French, - franco%20le%20long%20du%20navire

[In water transport] such contracts, commonly called contracts of affreightment, encompasss a heterogeneous mass of maritime agreements, comprising such differing types of contracts for the lease of a vessel (bareboat or demise charters), voyage and time charter parties, and bills of lading, including bills of lading in liner trades. 2, record 25, English, - contract%20of%20affreightment
Record number: 25, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The typical feature of such contracts is that the undertaking by the shipowner(ship operator), contrary to what is usually the case under bills of lading and charter parties in general, is not linked to any particular vessel or vessels, and that as a consequence his undertaking is of a generic nature. These contracts, it is said, are not real "chartering contracts" as there is no charter-party, but only an "agreement". 2, record 25, English, - contract%20of%20affreightment

2, record 25, French, - contrat%20d%27affr%C3%A8tement
Record number: 25, Textual support number: 1 OBS

In general, ship garbage resembles average municipal garbage. When it is generated near shore or in port it must be put ashore into dock-side reception facilities. When at sea, food wastes and other biodegradables may be "discharged" overboard under controlled conditions, but plastics... must be put ashore, no matter where they are generated. 1, record 33, French, - r%C3%A9sidus%20secs%20de%20cargaison%20en%20vrac
