A kisbie ring in general is a piece of life saving equipment that almost all ships carry. We have 4 stations onboard fitted with smoke markers, kisbie rings and other equipment which lookouts throw overboard in the event of a man overboard. As a piece of rescue equipment, these are painted orange and have the ships name on them in black in accordance with Canadian and international law. When alongside in home or foreign port, we use our ceremonial kisbie rings... in the 4 stations for decoration. We also have the stand and kisbie ring at the brow where you come aboard our ship as a welcome aboard sign and identifier.

This means that the buyer has to bear all costs and risks of loss of or damage to the goods from that moment. The FAS term requires the seller to clear for export. This is a reversal from previous Incoterms versions which required the buyer to arrange for export clearance. European sailors had been traveling across the Atlantic and around Africa for more than two centuries, and they recognized a general latitudinal pattern : light and variable winds, with daily thunderstorms, near the equator--the "doldrums"; prevailing easterly winds near the tropics--the "trade winds"; prevailing westerly winds in the mid-latitudes; and between the belts of easterlies and westerlies a zone of usually clear skies and calm air, the so-called "horse latitudes" where a ship could be stuck for weeks at a time in the calms of Cancer or Capricorn.

In general, ship garbage resembles average municipal garbage. When it is generated near shore or in port it must be put ashore into dock-side reception facilities.
