Beef Grading. Canadian beef is graded in two general ways : Tenderness-as indicated by youthfulness of the carcass. Grade A is the most tender, E the least. Fat level-as indicated by surface fat. 1 is the leanest, 4 the fattest. Most cuts of beef used in the food service trade grade A1, A2 or A3. The grade is most commonly indicated by the "Red Brand" ribbon-rolled down the entire beef side. Grade B shows as a blue ribbon brand.

Havana Charter was the charter of the defunct International Trade Organization(ITO). It was signed by 53 countries on March 24, 1948. It allowed for international cooperation and rules against anti-competitive business practices. The charter ultimately failed because the Congress of the United States rejected it. Elements of it would later become part of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade(GATT). The charter, proposed by John Maynard Keynes, was to establish the ITO and a financial institution called the International Clearing Union(ICU), and an international currency; the bancor. The Havana Charter institutions were to stabilize trade by encouraging nations to "net zero", with trade surplus and trade deficit both discouraged. This negative feedback was to be accomplished by allowing nations overdraft equal to half the average value of the country's trade over the preceding five years, with interest charged on both surplus and deficit.

Originally wool was graded by the blood system, with a Merino (a breed of sheep producing the finest of wools) considered to be "fine". Theoretically then, a half-blood wool would be comparable to what one would obtain from an individual sheep that was one-half Merino. It’s important to keep in mind that this does not mean that a half-blood fleece is necessarily half Merino; but rather the fleece is akin to the type a half-merino would produce.

Today, blood grades are trade names only and indicate wool of a general diameter range. The blood system, for most all useful purposes, it outdated and has not been recognized by USDA [United States Department of Agriculture] since 1955.

L'indicateur permet d'obtenir, généralement par déduction, des données sur des phénomènes climatiques qui, dans la pratique, ne peuvent être, ou ne peuvent plus être, mesurés directement; les connaissances actuelles du phénomène de réchauffement climatique reposent en grande partie, à cause des lacunes importantes dans les données nécessaires pour une compréhension globale de ce phénomène, sur des mesures indirectes fournies par des indicateurs (par ex. les cernes de croissance des arbres fournissent des données indirectes sur la quantité de précipitations avant les premières observations).
